Qantas Points Club Discussion

Edit: Should also add - am currently Gold, but will probably drop to Silver in a few days with status support ending. Will have lounge access until the end of Jan due to carried over QC membership, so I'm assuming I wouldn't get the lounge access?

This is purely speculation and educated guessing, but I think your QC membership might get the 1 year extension.

I'm currently WP with a 30 June membership anniversary. I also have 2 months of QC membership "in the bank" from when I first attained SG circa 2016. I haven't yet retained WP this year, but my QFF profile shows I have more than 24 months of QC membership:

It's possible this is factoring in a soft landing to SG next year (if I don't retain WP) but I think it's more likely that you can accrue a year of QC membership from Points Club Plus.

Given the past several years of status support I don't think we have any recent anecdotes about exactly how this situation would play out.

To answer your question though, I think it depends how many Woolworths Rewards points you're talking about. If it's like 20k WWR / 10k QFF I'd say go for it - the chance of extended QC by a year, 100SC rollover, extra $50 Hotels voucher, and obvious value of 10k QFF points is compelling. But if it's a significantly higher amount, say 100k WWR / 50k QFF, then I think it's a more difficult gamble on the QC extension.

It could also be worth calling QFF and asking for their confirmation around how the PC+ / QC benefit works in this scenario, and ensure you get an email in writing confirming you would receive the QC extension which you can hold them to if it doesn't play out as advised.

This is just a data point as my situation is very similar to yours. I am also WP, have a 30 June membership, PCP+, and have 1 month of QC membership 'in the bank'. My online account however shows that my QC membership expires on 31 July 2024. No factoring of a soft landing to SG for me :(.

According to the T&Cs you should at least get Qantas Club membership from Feb 2024 to July 2024.

± Points Club Plus members will receive complimentary digital Qantas Club Individual membership for the duration of their Points Club Plus membership.

Another data point on this for y'all - closer to @sudoer's. I have 4.5 months of QC membership in waiting, from when I first levelled up to SG in Oct 2011. QC membership year ending February. I've been WP for the last 10 years. Now PC+, and this is what mine shows:

Cheers,
Matt.

It all depends on your personal circumstances. I value PC+ for the ability to get 13.5 x points on Qantas Hotels bookings (when booked during triple points) and the $100 voucher for hotels. I do not chase status and do not fly domestic Y so the SC carry over and lounge access don't matter to me, but they might to someone else. I do not drink, but I came to an arrangement with another member to use my wine voucher to get him some wine that had points attached - he got the wine and I got the 6,000 points.
It's these kinds of benefits that make me think it might be worth it - I'm not a huge traveller myself atm, but everything booked for the rest of the year is domestic (and in J) so QC not super useful at present. My wine vouchers get used on non-alcoholic beer myself, not bad to get a free case (or two if it's PC+).

In my case it's about 50k QFF that I'd be transferring (has built up over 4ish months). It's not the biggest thing in the world given I'll also get a lounge pass if I end up at Silver (I'm sitting at 210 SCs so that might not even happen, but with Classic Reward flights booked during DSC, I reckon I might crack Gold next membership year at the rate I'm going).

All these posts have been so insightful (and quick) as always, thanks so much!

ICYMI, for anyone in Points Club who doesn't have a use for their $50 voucher, there's a $55 bottle with 1000 bonus points. It's essentially free for anyone who is on PCP with the 10% off.

My bottle arrived a week after ordering.

What a good suggestion. I just never thought about buying just one bottle. I ignored the potential bonus points and instead went for a lovely House of Arras 2009 Rosé for only $35.50. Very happy with that!

Thanks for sharing. Cleared out all mine and Mrs sudoer's $50 vouchers!!

It's still a pretty good deal for Points Club (non Plus) members too as they also get free delivery. Effectively $5 for the bottle + 1000 points.

Just noticed this at the bottom of my account today as well, possibly also due to PC+ - will wait and see what happens if I hit PC+ again as planned before the end of this membership year.

Of course, I can't find my vouchers now, have emailed to try to chase it up - and of course they've disappeared from my dashboard. But have cashed in Mrs Excel's!

I have a PC reward in a Qantas Hotels voucher, plus another from a different source.

Just checking .... Has anyone used 2 voucher codes on the same hotel booking ?
(I just want one night)

I doubt very much that you can use an outside voucher when making a hotel booking through Qantas. You can also only use one QF hotel voucher per booking. If you have two vouchers and needed two nights, book two subsequent single night stays.

Agree. It could have been clearer.
Both are Qantas hotels vouchers, but from different sources.

Thanks again for all the helpful comments/suggestions the other day, took the plunge and am PC+ (ahead of my membership year finishing tomorrow).

Even though I'm Gold (about to be downgraded), my QC has been automatically extended for a year already for getting to PC+ (now ending Jan 2025), wasn't expecting it to be that smooth or easy haha. Will be interesting to see what happens when new membership year starts on Tuesday and what happens with QC and hotel/wine vouchers.

But you have already told us that your QC has been extended until 2025 because you will have entry through PC+ for the next twelve months?
As PC+ you will receive two $50 wine vouchers and one $100 hotel voucher along with QC membership for your new anniversary year.

I'm a life member of QC and looking at having enough points for Points Club this year.
Does anyone know if I will still get the 2 lounge invitations and if they are transferrable to family members?
Thanks.
