Qantas Points Club Discussion

Fair enough, looks like it was a mistake on my part by booking through the multi city tool where it shows as EK404 compared to the direct flight search where it shows as QF8404

I think it would've changed to EK404 as soon as you click next after selecting classic rewards, but yeah easy to miss I suppose.

As a general rule though you cannot book codeshare as classic rewards, so in practice you can only earn status credits on Qantas Metal classic rewards (and those special flights operated by Alliance or Finnair)

In almost all cases when CR redemptions are made on partner airlines, QF issue the ticket with the partners airlines flight # making the flight ineligible to earn PC status credits.

Very occasionally you can get lucky and get a QF flight number on a FJ redemption.

On a cash fare you can choose the QF codeshare with certainty.

Flights from some airline in the "old country" used to give SCs on rewards seats, or was that loophole closed?

Think it still happens sometimes BUT that was never due to PC as was full not partial SCs nor on a QF codeshare.

Throw ozbargain in there somewhere too.

Yes.

There's a clear difference between posting about an advertised and intentional offer showing how it could be advantageous - and posting about loopholes, errors and ways to game the system in a way that was clearly never envisaged.

The worst of the worst are the people who try to communicate directly with the company making the offer to confirm in writing that they will be able to use the loophole or benefit from the error.

I sometimes think this is a big part of the problem. People phoning to see if a hack works. And people wonder why it takes so long to get anyone on the phone....

Indeed. I'm actually not sure if people are sharing it for the sake of sharing or for the sake of gaining popularity. Perhaps they're unaware that by spreading it, they'll lose out on it rather than benefiting it for months/years to come.

Hence I always like to see some members put in a bit of effort before sharing goods.

It's a shame that the "old country" trick is now dead.

I think some of them do it to demonstrate they are experts - and some to crow about how clever they are and how stupid the airlines are.

The loopholes I was most sad to lose were with BA - using an address in France meant you could qualify for BA Gold (OWE) with 800 SCs instead of the usual 1500, and you could get full SCs on the cut price route of BAH-DOH, allowing very cheap status runs in F.

hi everyone, apologies for the dumb questions, from a non often flyer

so in march 2022, I received a "Welcome back! With over 150,000 points earned this Membership Year, you've automatically unlocked Points Club again."Now that you are back in Points Club, you have access to a suite of travel benefits and offers again until 31 Oct 2023,"

but when i login into my qantas account it says i have to earn 150,000 points until 31/10/2023 to be eligible for this period, im no where near the 150k which is fine, "You’ve earned 70,000 Qantas Points towards Points Club this Membership Year 1 November 2022 - 31 October 2023
but the green banner says "points club"so it looks like i am enrolled.

I wanted to check my lounge passes, but I kind of recall giving them to a family member,
"https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/the-qantas-club/complimentary-invitations.html"
just says "You don't currently hold any complimentary invitations."
which is fine. but I cant seem to find history

and my other question is, ive got a flight in economy Redemption from Syd to Europe China Airlines, and I have a stop over for about 6 hours, and was wondering can I buyg a lounge pass from someone and add it on? the qantas website seems to state only if you have "QF" flight,
and i have no status

Points Club is renewed annually. If you received the welcome email in March 2022, that would have been for earning 150k QFF points in your membership year starting Nov 2021. Attaining both QFF status and Points Club membership will apply for the remainder of your current year and entire following year, hence why you are still Points Club until the end of this month.

A few days into November you will lose the Points Club banner and lose associated Points Club benefits.

Transferred passes (probably don't mention you've sold them - it is against the T&C) will show up for a couple of months as transferred, then drop off. There is no way to see your history after that.

Qantas lounge invitations are only valid at Qantas lounges (there isn't one in Taipei) when travelling on Qantas flights (as you mentioned), so an invitation will be of no use on your itinerary.

You can pay your way into the Plaza Premium lounges at TPE.

Day six of new year and PC+ SCs have not yet rolled over. Planning to follow up in a few more days if none have eventuated by then.
