I am flying PE for the first time in a few years QF29 on 19 March. Currently in seat 34A. Expert Flyer shows 37K as blocked, but I can select the seat on QF website. Should I stick with 34A or move to 37K. Also, does anyone know likely upgrade possibility? Thanks in advance.

Lol, It's been 9 return flights & that is enough, 18 & I would be pretty sure to be CL, actually met someone who would have done that though & is. Sort of looking forward to landing somewhere other than LAX
The 4.5k price is a return price

With 13 PE & 5 J class SYD LAX In the past 18 months I would gladly book a PE flight again tomorrow to do the same.
With deep discount prices of $4500 PE vs $9500 J return it is really hard to justify the extra $5000 for J.
That is where points upgrades are a wonderful thing.

We (or rather the client) has paid 7.5k for PE tickets at times so yes 4.5k is pretty good IMHO

I agree that they are lower ex US than ex Aus but unpredictability means that is awkward to arrange

Given they are disbursements the cost is not a huge factor, they are thankful they are PE rather than J

The seat pulling isn't that big a problem if you can figure out which seat to get, travelling by yourself bulkhead window seats are great, very little occurs, it happens to your neighbour, I would avoid the row of 4 in a 747 at all costs unless it was a front row in front of a bulkhead ie the bassinet row without babies - seems all the 747 are slightly different configurations on the A380 the row in front of the exit row is protected by a half height bulkhead, there is no seat pulling there..
If paying $7500 for PE then J becomes attractive but if you insist on PE then booking out of the US works. At the price difference it would be worth booking and then paying the change fee when you sort out the dates.

I'm still unsure why you say 'they are thankful they are PE rather than J' There is no comparison IMHO.

Not likely. Maybe P1 though.

On the A380, I had an exit row seat which gave me an incredible amount of room.

I am in Y+ on A380 later this year. Would you recommend the exit row (38) over the bulkhead (34) for extra room? On Seat guru the exit row middle seats are next to the toilets and the other seats are right in front of the self serve bar - might get a bit annoying?

Depends if you are by yourself or not & how tall you are

The bulkhead is fine by me - I am 6'0" & i think it would be ok for slightly taller, i would go the window seat either side as preference, there is a bit of through FA traffic from J & the bulkhead aisle seats notice this

My second preference is the LH side seat in centre aisle in front of the exit row there is plenty of leg room in PE but you do have to deal with seat incline. With status you may not have a neighbour in the centre seat or at worst a couple & they will go right rather than left

Third preference would be RHS exit row seats - the mini bar doesn't have that much traffic but i wouldn't choose an aisle seat near to a curtain, not so much the aisle seat but rather peoples incompetency with curtains after 4-5 glasses of wine...

Thanks for that.

Am only 5'10" and traveling alone. Was pre-allocated the bulkhead, although aisle is my preference.

I know hat you mean about swishing curtains though - my last 380 flight was in J row 16 as we had baby G with us. That swishing curtain just about drove whichever of us was in the aisle seat mad - and kept waking up the baby in the bassinet.

Its actually pretty easy to step over your neighbour if you have the window seat at the bulkhead. As there is no inclined seat

I would say my typical preference was an aisle seat as well

I was really impressed with the Y+ seat......I think they are just as good as the dump of a sloped skybed.

38J/K rock ....

So 38K would be the pick of the bunch to avoid traffic in the aisle?

The side storage bin next to 38k is also really handy (not unique to 38k but worth mentioning).

Should also mention that a regulation 115cm rollaboard will not fit in the overhead bins near this seat. I had to put my bag above 35J on my last trip. Not a big deal as it seemed like there was plenty of free space for all; again just thought it was worth mentioning.

Thanks for that tip. Unless Qantas messes around with our booking, we have these seats on our flight to LHR in July.

This is by way of comment and also looking for info. Being a huge fan of Qantas PE (quality seats + space, crew, treatment) I've been trawling return flights QF1 to London for the end of this yr. The Dubai - London leg is Emirates Economy. I know this is because Emirates don't do PE, but it's rude that Qantas is still charging the full PE fare for the flights. Am hoping to use some or all Qantas points but it will be the same deal on quantum charge. So can anyone suggest alternative PE routes still on QF? Incidentally, I'm only looking at Qantas - I did travel VA Premium return London last year. It was rubbish. Shoddy seats, cramped bulkhead and no room to work or stretch out on way over and pretty ordinary even in their refurbished version on return - had a cheap fare but wd have been v angry if had paid full price.

Why - I'm not sure I understand? With effect from March 31, the QF flights to London from/to Melbourne and Sydney go via Dubai, rather than via Singapore. If you're going all the way to London, you can take QF all the way (provided you don't mind going via Dubai). Anywhere else in Europe and, yes, you'll be on Emirates metal but no need if you're going to (or coming from) London

I flew the QF93 last week and was in the bulkhead. Bulkhead trumps exit row as people tend to cross over to go to the bathroom.

Hopefully your upcoming flight isn't full of idiots like mine was :)

airlines have 'kids-free' zones....the next logical progression is 'IDIOTS-FREE ZONES' :)

It is QF all the way - but website clearly notes that the Dubai-London leg is Emirates economy. There's no ambiguity.

lol... Call me old fashioned, but feet should be on the floor and the footrest, not on the wall dividing you from business.

On that note, don't even get me started on AA domestic first *shakes head*
