Qantas Premium Economy

It is QF all the way - but website clearly notes that the Dubai-London leg is Emirates economy. There's no ambiguity.

as long as you book on QF1/2 from/to SYD or QF9/10 from/to MEL you will be QF all the way to/from LHR...

Thanks everyone but seriously, flight search does show the notation re that leg. And yes its 'll QF. My point is of course that Qantas needs to address this with March 31st heading up fast; either with Emirates seat allocations or by adjusting the fare cost. It's an anomaly. Bye for now.

So they are charging the same for a QF W then EK Y compared to QF W all the way

guess i'm the odd one out. I find PE seats hard to sleep in. and the foot rest awkward. For day flights it's ok, but for night flights, i prefer Y with their foot nettings.

Plus you can take advantage of empty adjacent seats in Y.

and no gate to gate IFE is super annoying when your flight is delayed.

Terrific to read more about the Y+ product, with the QF sale on at the moment there are some good deals depending on travel dates and I've always wanted to see what it's like

I sleep better in QF W seats than I do in their J (or VA's J for that matter). It just seems to recline to the perfect angle for me.

I also was never a fan of sleeping on a bank of seats. And, if you ever actually find a flight with empty seats for that matter, you're very lucky!

I can cope without gate to gate IFE; you don't get that on A380 J either ;)

I actually find it odd there's no gate to gate IFE for those in J or W or Y bulkheads/exit rows, yet the masses in the rest of Y get gate to gate IFE....

Also in F you are allowed to leave the screen open. I open my screen in J until they prepare the cabin for take off though, never been asked to stow it before then. When delayed at the gate you can watch some tv

My wife and I are going to BNE-SIN later in the year (QF51) in PE. Are 34A and 34B good seats for a couple (new 747 config)? I currently have these seats allocated, and the only other seats currently available are 3 rows of the 4-across middle seats, 38J and 39A/B. I notice that the bulkheads seats have immovable armrests. I'm also 6'5", so hoping that the bulkhead would not be too much of any issue stretching out.

All Y+ seats have immovable arm rests; the TVs and tray tables are in them, and they also have the little drinks stand.

Yes, they are good seats, the only bad ones IMHO are in the old non refurb cabins.

Thanks. I have flown PE on a QF 747 before, but couldn't remember if it was the new config or not, plus we were in the back row, and I really didn't pay much attention to the seating setup at the time. My main concern was primarily if the bulkhead and proximity to toilets would be an issue.

You do spend a bit of time showing people where it is I found (travelled two weeks ago on QF51 in 34), especially as there is a divider that looks like a door attached to the side of the galley. I was in 35 but relocated to 34 after take off, we did have some stowaways from row 55 that thought they had great seats for 5 minutes (luckily they were caught out - they did not believe in deodorant and it was quite unbearable).

Hi,

We're also flying PE on QF107 SYD-LAX-JFK which is the new reconfigured 747 with 58J/36W/270Y. I have a similar question to Chris82 but mine pertains to the bulkhead in front of row 36DEFG. Is there limited leg room due to the bulkhead or is there a cut out at the bottom? We've been allocated 36 AB but 36 FG is now available. Any advice from people who have flown this configuration would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

When are you flying? I am in same configuration in 36G bulkhead tomorrow morning.

I shall post some details tomorrow night.

I have been in 36G on one of the reconfig birds (VH-OJU). There is no cut out at the bulkhead, which is an artificial wall to create a walkway between portside and starboard. I will recommend staying put at 36AB as there is more space under the seat in front of yours to rest your feet.

Thanks for the replies everyone! We decided to stay put in 36AB and I think it was the right decision, especially as we were travelling as a couple so it was nice to have our own space. Could see that the DEFG bulkheads have a small cutout but it still felt like we had more legroom under the seats in front of us. The recline from the seats in front of us didn't bother us too much. Was really quite impressed with the Qantas PE product - have only flown business or plain Y in the past and was pleasantly surprised with the PE seats and service.
