I am afraid review of 36G will have to wait for another flight....

To be expected!

I wasnt expecting it. I was hoping but not expecting.

I just noticed a young couple with row 12 upper deck. At least one was Gold but not sure about the other. They are off to Samui and I am assuming they have been op-upped as well.

The difference is I am in the First lounge with not many people while the Qantas lounge is overflowing and there has just been an announement for people to take their bags off spare seats.

The F lounge is OK when there is no QF8 operating.

No complaints here about BNE F lounge.

The pure blonde is cold (without restrictions) and the solitary desktop is free allowing to post to AFF right now.

Domestic BNE lounge is however quiet, apart from the chairs around the TV next to the kids area which is tuned to the cricket, although sadly zoomed so you can't see the whole screen

That is a very good guess. I am in in 5D although the seat to be in looks like 5K if it existed. Wish I wad 25 years younger and handsome. Could have been a great flight. ;)

You are What you feel! I knew I should have chosen row24. They should cut out holes in the bulkhead.

I've heard that announcement before and also witnessed a pair of ignorant sods completely ignore it. I felt like saying something!

LOL. She was way too young for this old man.

I had a quick look at 36G and it looked a little cramped.

I dont mind row 23 on A330s for PER-SIN flights. I have chosen 23J for SIN-SYD flight next week.

Interesting to read the reports on Qantas PE. We are on QF2 - A380 in PE from LHR-Syd next May, not travelled in PE before. What surprised me was that in the Qantas A380, PE is on the top deck, aft. Why did they not put PE a little more forward in the configuration?

Where are you suggesting that they put the PE cabin?

23J wasnt too bad last night on QF6. I was able to sleep for ~4 hours and I was able to stretch my leg out into the aisle often. My shoulder and arm got bumped a lot though by cabin crew racing through the curtain.

May be a 2-4-2 config behind F? They would have a quieter part of the cabin, and status-ed Y pax would be happy that they can always have the mini upper deck cabin without having to worry about configs/swaps.

Upper Deck is quieter than the lower though, so by that reasoning, F should be on the upper deck too.

Having been on both upper and lower, i'd rather the Premium cabin stay where it is (i've not had the luxury of flying F on the A380 yet though).

Hi all. Mrs_Orange and I are off to SIN later in the year in Y+, on a 3 class, refurbed 747. I've picked bulkhead seats in row 36 at the moment.

Can anyone advise if these seats really do have extra legroom or whether they are more like the front row (23) of Y on the 333s?

I am 6', with long legs, and found row 23 on the 333 to be too cramped to sleep. I also found found row 43 in Y on the 744 a little bit restrictive even with its cut-out at the bottom of the bulk head, although I have only experienced that on the QF8 hop to SYD from BNE.

Would I be better of in row 37, with the opportunity to stretch out under the seat in front?

I think they have similar legroom to the A330 bulkhead row 23 seats.

Really? I am 3 inches shorter than you and struggle to reach the bulkhead let alone make it feel restrictive. Do you have long legs? Or do you really slide forward in the seat while you are seated?

I have row 43 next week so would be interested to check again.

Thanks JohnK. I do have long legs, but maybe I slide forward a bit too. The A330 was awful, but I was only in row 43 on the 747 for just over an hour and wasn't trying to sleep, but my feet could touch bulk head.

Anyway, based on your response that PE bulkhead seats are similar to the 333, I will reselect :).

The worst PE seat is the old config and that still has 5-6 cms more leg room:

It is bad for PE - maybe 5cm more than 23J/K on a 333.

I could not stretch out - worse finding out the hard way on QF22 :(

As this is the new config:

Thanks for the replies everyone! We decided to stay put in 36AB and I think it was the right decision, especially as we were travelling as a couple so it was nice to have our own space. Could see that the DEFG bulkheads have a small cutout but it still felt like we had more legroom under the seats in front of us. The recline from the seats in front of us didn't bother us too much. Was really quite impressed with the Qantas PE product - have only flown business or plain Y in the past and was pleasantly surprised with the PE seats and service.
