Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

Interesting point where I read that C+ only available to be booked online.

“Can Classic Plus rewards seats be booked via the contact centres?

No – Classic Plus reward seats can only be booked online via qantas.com.”

If we run into issues booking, does this mean we can’t contact them because they won’t see availability or just that they can’t book?

Think of it as the Coles : Woolies self service checkout experience

I like how they didn't publish any LAX/LHR sale fares for J 😂.

Anyone one have recent sale prices for LAX/LHR in J for comparison?

The main arbitrage opportunity seems to be destinations where there high CR costs but low sale fares. Besides NZ, I think a few other APAC areas fall into this category.

Can't be booked.
Their reservations systems don't have the ability to convert these into a points price as far as I'm aware. So if reservations were to change it, it would probably result in an actual cash price to change.

So availability of CR+ will be “widespread” but not unlimited. 20 million seats this year.

Will be interesting to see how long availability lasts on popular routes!

So does Points + Pay even have any relevance anymore? I assume P+P will exist only where CR/CR+ seats have been exhausted on the route? I think it's mental that QF can have a variable value of what a "QFF point" is worth. Imagine if currencies operated like that.

P+P will only be available on the payment screen now. Still has a place, but probably less relevant.

It will still exist for all cash bookings (you'll have the option to use P+P). Probably for people who don't have many points and just want to save an extra $60 when they can't get a reward seat.

As many people and the AFF Editor has stressed, Qantas Points are not a currency and they always have a variable value, as it's based on what you redeem it on. Classic+ actually gives them a fixed value.

Interesting to see how Platinum seat requests will go now... (assume P1s will still be okay)

One can only hope this is the last of former head of (dis)Loyalty - Olivia Wirth's dystopian plans to rip any and all benefits out of QFF, while keeping the media chattering classes happily providing free column inches.

I also imagine that nothing has changed for RTW OWA, but i feel sorry for all the additional calls asking to book a C+ expecting 318k then not getting it.
