Qantas Salt & Pepper Squid thread

The S&P squid is one of those dishes that anyone can make at home in an air fryer. There’s no discernible difference between the F lounge and the stuff that comes out of the supermarket freezer. Enjoyable but over rated. IMO

I don’t have an air fryer, so I guess I just need to fly QFi or a partner airline…😂

I’ll probably have some shortly!

I don't usually eat fatty roasted or fried food; pan, deep or air, at home so, notwithstanding that I am past S&P squid, it was always a treat.

Have been over it for a long time.
I have been over it since 2007 when I was served some in SYD First which was 'rancid' around the edges. I had a moratorium on it from then until the lounges reopened after COVID-19 and one time it was the only non plant based protein available on the abridged menu's they had then.

Maybe 10 years ago I arrived at the LAX First lounge before 6pm and was seated near the kitchen. A pale miasma of steam/cooking gasses began to erupt from the cooking area, streaming out over the dining tables. They were pre-cooking a large batch of S&P Squid for the evening and the exhaust fans could not cope. The place reeked of battered fishiness and not in a good way. Fortunately I was able to an other part of the dining area, away from the kitchen aperture.
