Wow. Complicated but I think generous for most members (assuming travel opens in October).
Very happy from my perspective.
Was not generous for most members at all.

Where did you get that idea?

All Qantas frequent flyers that had Silver, Gold, Platinum or Platinum One as of March 2020 received a 12-month status extension. Now, Qantas is giving all of these members 50% of the required status credits to renew their status in their next membership year. In addition, some members are now getting supplementary monthly status credits (a.k.a StatusKeeper).

Seems pretty generous to me! 🤷‍♂️

The first part isn't true. I had Gold status in March and had already accumulated enough credits to retain gold, so I did not get a 12 month extension. However, I have received the 50% status points boost and I am very happy with that!

So if the number of SC in the points boost is half the requalification amount , so what happens if you are LTG?
Do you get 50% of WP ? ..... or nothing ?
Thoughts please

You get 50% of what the requalification amount. If you are LTG your requal amount is 0, therefore you get nil.

Also data point, I got the extra SCs yesterday

..and/or Dom J which may now be off-limits for some corporate flyers (at least for the near future.)

So the pitch to Management is, 'need J to keep any sort of Social Distance on the plane', and not to be in the cattle herd on boarding/de-boarding. 'You want me to stay healthy, right?'

I expect Qantas might start marketing the comfort seat for this - maybe not on short haul domestic, but I can see it being popular on long haul international when it eventually opens up.

"Upgrade your economy ticket to econobiz for a guaranteed empty middle seat, priority boarding" etc

After straining my eyes reading all the fine print on every page and attempting to communicate with a chatbot, I'd be really grateful if anyone can shed any light on the hotel SC deals please :)
Sure, here you go, more simpler and fairer stuff from QF, with enhanced fine print.

And that's it. You could say the Mar people were the worst off for status extension, followed by Feb, Jan etc. But now, Mar people get the most months of SC support, followed by Feb, Jan etc. So it kind of balances out.

Still winners and losers but - and this might be too soon - it kind of flattens the curve....

Really ,
..... so why then on my Status screen does it identify the points I need to achieve Platinum... isn't that my next level?

Big difference between qualification and requalification.

It will be based on whatever your status is. If you are Gold, based on Gold. If you are Platinum, based on Platinum, etc.

Big difference between qualification and requalification.

200SC is the difference in 1400 to qualify 1200 to qualify ... big difference ? ..... 16 percent isnt a big difference numerically but do understand that the last 200 can be tough .... that's why we go on status runs ..

Does anybody else have any thought

So based on this logic I should receive 300SC as I am Gold .... even though I never have to requalify ?

No

If you were actually gold (as opposed to LTG), you get 300SC. That is 50% of the requal for Gold (600SC).
If you were actually Platinum, you get 600SC. That is 50% of the requal for Plaltinum (1200SC).

1400SC has nothing to do with it. If you are LTG, Platinum has nothing to do with you. If you get anything, you get the same as proper gold (300). The posts from others were saying you get zero as there is no requal required for LTG. I can't comment if that is true or not.

The purpose of these are to assist in retaining status. None of this is to help people gain higher status.

It would be interesting to clarify with this one, on the FAQ page:

Who is eligible for the Status Credit Boost?

It specifically states "This includes members on Lifetime Status, Status Hold, members who have received complimentary Gold membership, or complimentary Platinum membership from a Platinum One member."

So maybe someone on LTS/LTG will get 125/300 SC's to help them work towards attaining Gold/Platinum? (would be good to see if anyone on LTS/G can provide a datapoint here).

EDIT: This post here from turnip666 seems to confirm that those with lifetime status will still get the status boost:

Makes sense and would explain why to date I have received nothing when others have .

But I had one trip booked that was refunded due to COVID19 that would have earnt me SC and was planning a round the world trip in J using Oneworld carriers in October - November 2020 that would hve got me back to Platinum and Mrs Popeye well and truly Gold . 🤔
