Qantas Status Credits Boost

QLD still lets you transit via Sydney, it is currently listed as an exemption under their border restriction number 9.

"the person arrived by air to the COVID-19 hotspot for the sole purpose of transiting through an airport in the COVID-19 hotspot and did not leave the confines of the airport;"
Thanks @ChrisMars - do you know of this will still be the case free the whole of Greater Sydney has been named as a hot spot today?

I think it will remain the case even when Sydney becomes a hotspot on Saturday 1am. The directive in its current wording clearly state you can transit via hotspot as long as you stay in the airport.

Obviously it will be much harder if overseas. But it just needs to be 4 Qantas or Jetstar marketed flights, right? Are Jetstar NZ/Jetstar Asia or codeshare flights on partner airlines doable?

No longer possible to book codeshare on emirates unless it goes to Australia.

The jetstar asia flights are an expensive possibility.

Jetstar Japan is also a possibility.

Directive No 9 actually provided a minor relaxation. You can also drive through a hotspot to the airport or anywhere else provided you drive straight through. Directive No 8 pinged you with quarantine if you merely drove through the hotspot, unless you were going to the airport.

One word of warning - make sure you have receipts, toll records, etc that establish you drove straight through. I was pinged at Goondiwindi last week when I mentioned Sydney, and only escaped HM Quarantine because I had a trail of receipts and went through all the right toll booths and none of the wrong ones. Not sure about airports next week, but after the ladies from Logan sneaked in from MEL by transiting through SYD I expect extra attention.

I was actually surprised at how quick the ‘boost‘ arrived in my account. On 1 Aug 4006 SC wiped out and 1900 replaced, I do not think the points club 100SC roll over counts towards retaining P1. I had the 4006SC by mid March and it did not increase to 31 July, although the boost is generous I suspect the only increase I will have in SC this side of 2021 will be the x2 'status keeper' payments (BTW I really like that phrase) of 150 per month in Aug and Sep.

Nope, the points club 100SC does not count for P1, not sure if it does for lower levels. It's only good for lifetime status which probably doesn't help a number of P1s given that a fair few would be LTG, or close to it.
100 toward LTP!

It’s no good for lifetime status. From qantas.com:

Points Club Plus members get the exclusive ability to roll over up to 100 of their Status Credits into their next Membership Year. Points Club Plus members’ Status Credits that are rolled over from one Membership Year to the next will not contribute to Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward, Platinum One Bonus or Lifetime tiers, and for Platinum One members, will not contribute towards attaining or retaining status.

So essentially useful for Silver, Gold and Platinum attain/retain and nothing else.

It got me to LTS when it was applied recently.
I was replying to an OT post about the points club plus 100 SC rollover, not Status Boost.:)

Status Boost = good for lifetime tally
Status Support = good for lifetime tally
Points Club Plus Rollover = no good for LT

I just got the e-mail, as a Plat, with anniversary in February 2021. Using the calculator, it tells me I will get 600SCs in March 2021. That's appreciated, but as I have my status extended already to Feb 2022, I guess its good for Life Time count only (although I have LTG already). Not complaining by any means, just a data point.

EDIT: As pointed out by @RichardMEL below, I've mis-counted the dates, and it will assist in my 2022 requal for 2023. :)

PS no-where does it define 'Eligible member'.

I have the same anniversary as you, so hadn’t been concerned about renewal so far and glad others were receiving boosts. However, with flying overseas unlikely in March, the news we will also receive a status boost next March to help retain WP into 2023 is welcome. I haven't seen this email before. I might have received and not read it. Qantas has definitely helped itself by doing this. Now I will book Qantas or partner flights for sure rather than SQ in order to retain WP.

Hi all, Have any P1s received August’s 150 bonus status credit boost? Or am I missing a memo?
The 150 SC is "Status support".
Boost is 1800 for P1.
Last month's support was halfway through the month, not too long after it was announced, so chances are it will be in a similar time this month.

I presume your membership year has already renewed? Because if you're yet to renew you don't receive the Status Keeper support until after your membership year of 2020/2021 starts

I'm a WP with a membership year ending 31 March. I requalified for WP to March 2021 by earning my own SC. My StatusKeeper 600 points have landed. And I will be getting 300 StatusSeeker points to cover March-September. So that means I only need to get 300 SC by end of March 2021 to retain until 2022. I thought I might even do this by BP, Hotels, Woolworths etc.

But then I realised that, under the rules, I still have to make 4 QF flights before end of March to retain and I started to feel down again.
Even though you retained WP to March 2021 yourself, QF also granted you status extension to March 2021. Therefore 4-segments are not required to be flown in 2020/21.

You have to fly the 4 segments between April 2021 and March 2022 to requalify by the end of March 2022. We will surely be able to fly domestic by 2022, so no problem.

It seems that many people are confused by the status extension and thinking they still have to fly the four QF marketed flights.

I felt happy for a few moments, and I really do give genuine thanks to Qantas for trying their best in difficult circumstances.

I would agree with what Seat0B has stated and as things currently stand think they will need the 4 QF flights. If flying is still tricky come next year it is of course possible they may relax or remove this.

Their WP was due to expire on 31 March 2020. They needed to earn 1200 SC and 4 QF flights between 1 April 2019 and 31 March 2020 to have their WP extended to 31 March 2021. They achieved this but as it happens Qantas extended everyone's status in this situation to 31 March 2021 so the 1200 SC and 4 QF flights were in the end irrelevant.

To have their WP extended to 31 March 2022 they will need to earn 1200 SC and 4 QF flights between 1 April 2020 and 31 March 2021. Qantas have given them a head start with 600 SC plus 6 x 50 SC, but they will as it stands still need 300 SC and 4 QF flights before 31 March 2021 otherwise they will soft land to Gold.

You’re confusing your status years here. My year ends Apr, and not that long ago was ‘gifted’ the status April just gone to Apr 2021. A nonsense gift for someone whose status year was almost over, as like a lot of others I had already requalified.

The StatusKeeper credits recognise this and get me a long way toward requalifying for Apr 21-Mar 22. However I still have to do the four flights by Apr 21, a bloody big hurdle as the bulk of my QF flights previously have been international for work, or rellie runs BNE-SYD. Both currently off the table. Probably have to do status runs, assuming I decide WP status is still worth having.
