Qantas Status Credits Boost

You’re confusing your status years here. My year ends Apr, and not that long ago was ‘gifted’ the status April just gone to Apr 2021. A nonsense gift for someone whose status year was almost over, as like a lot of others I had already requalified.

The StatusKeeper credits recognise this and get me a long way toward requalifying for Apr 21-Mar 22. However I still have to do the four flights by Apr 21, a bloody big hurdle as the bulk of my QF flights previously have been international for work, or rellie runs BNE-SYD. Both currently off the table. Probably have to do status runs, assuming I decide WP status is still worth having.

I admit to being thoroughly confused.

Because I usually have enough flights every year, I haven’t had to think about it for a while. I thought you just had to make the qualifying flights before (in your case) March 2022. Now I understand they have to be by end of March next year to launch your renewal. Thank goodness I can wait until late next year! PER-MEL via ADL provides four segments on a return trip or else, 🤞EK booked through QF in September.

The StatusKeeper has got me believing that I will be able to re-qualify Gold in the next membership year. I have a double SC booking 'voucher' leftover from a Barcaldine to Longreach leg which I would use for some crazy intra-australia multiple booking which i would need to use before 28 Feb 2021.

The question for later in the year or January 2021 will be why do I need to qualify anyway? - Attractiveness of qualifying is proportional to the foreseeable amount of international travel

Shorter waiting time when calling Qantas to enquiry about refund of cancelled flight is by far the best perk I used in 2020

Yep. In the same boat. I'm part of the March cohort and most of my travel is international for work. Not looking good. I'm in Perth though, and we're thinking about some trips up north so I might squeeze out the 4x sector requirement. We'll see.

I would agree with what Seat0B has stated and as things currently stand think they will need the 4 QF flights. If flying is still tricky come next year it is of course possible they may relax or remove this.

Their WP was due to expire on 31 March 2020. They needed to earn 1200 SC and 4 QF flights between 1 April 2019 and 31 March 2020 to have their WP extended to 31 March 2021. They achieved this but as it happens Qantas extended everyone's status in this situation to 31 March 2021 so the 1200 SC and 4 QF flights were in the end irrelevant.

To have their WP extended to 31 March 2022 they will need to earn 1200 SC and 4 QF flights between 1 April 2020 and 31 March 2021. Qantas have given them a head start with 600 SC plus 6 x 50 SC, but they will as it stands still need 300 SC and 4 QF flights before 31 March 2021 otherwise they will soft land to Gold.
Yes @ABC, that’s how I read it. Anyway, I know it’s a first world problem. I’ll just have to wIt and see......

Because it’s easier to get 1200 SC to requal than 1400 SC for a ‘new’ qualification if you slip to gold.

Chances are QF will recognise that even domestic travel is too hard for the majority to do and so will presumably grant some ~ if not just a full free requalification

Only a paltry 15 SC for me but I'm happy with that!

Only a measly 5 for me... Given I was one of the 690 SC balance people at anniversary at end of April I feel quite left out. (And I was dropped from Gold to Silver the previous year when still accumulating 520 SC for that year...)

Just got my Status Keeper payement. WP -> 50 SC. Now I just need another 41 SC to requalify this year. Almost there 😎

Hey, I got another StatusKeeper cheque yesterday too. This got me 255 SCs short of the requal line. This was once a one-trip doddle, now looking like an awfully long bridge to cross. But still a while to go in the year...

Currently parked on Daydream Island earning a few more SCs. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it
