Qantas Status Credits Boost

Is there clarification on the SC bonus at 500SCs.

I've started the new year with 315SC.

Do I get a bonus 50SC when I earn 500SC for the year ie 315 + 185 which get me a 50sc bonus?

This would mean I with really 'only' needing to earn 235SC to requal Gold?

Or am I needing to earn the 285 through travel?

I'm finding it difficult to follow your numbers, but Status Boost (once off bonus at start of membership year) and StatusKeeper (monthly top-ups) don't count to the loyalty bonus if this is what you are asking:

OK, great, that screenshot makes sense and their statement I can now see on my Status Activity page the answer you have highlighted

"Your next Loyalty Bonus is at 500 Status Credits
You haven’t earned any Status Credits this membership year

I did not receive the bonus 50SC when I went past 500SC's. Was going to follow through with a phone call but haven't had time.

You aren't eligible to get the Loyalty Bonus from the Status Boost or Status Support SCs that are credited. This is covered on various parts of this page: Status Support | Qantas Frequent Flyer

It says:

What will the Status Credit Boost count towards?
The Status Credit Boost will contribute towards reaching and keeping Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum One and to further show our appreciation it will also contribute towards reaching Lifetime Silver, Lifetime Gold and Lifetime Platinum status. The Status Credit Boost will not contribute towards any other bonuses including the Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward and Platinum One Bonus Reward.

Cheers,
Matt.

I always thought classic reward flights on QF metal counted towards the 4 eligible flights to retain status. There is no way to find confirmation on the Qantas website.

On the current subject, it is a bonus that the status keeper points, whether a lump sum or monthly, received by those eligible members also count towards their lifetime status.

Clause 20.1.5 is pretty clear.

No, not that I have ever been aware of.

My status bonus next month will tip me into LTG!

Thank you. I searched and searched without success. Key words brought up entirely different answers and different sections of the terms.

I must have known though, in the background of my mind. In previous years I have paid for my seat when going to Melbourne, but used points for my son.

Congratulations!

Just checked my FF statement and on the 1st of September they expired 475 SC's and then gave me a credit boost of 315 SC's. An overall loss of 160 SC's.
Looks like I'll be on the phone today to sort out!.

So, your FF year-end is 30th August?

Assuming you are gold and your membership ends 31 August, what happens is normal @Bayside . Your SC get wipped out then you get 300 of status credit boost and 15 of status credit support, as part of the covid19 response to help QFF members.

Also, as gold member you might have to wait a long time before speaking to Qantas. The folks on this forum will help you sort it out faster 😁

... and just to add to others from above ... QF will have already extended your (assumed) Gold for a further 12 months so to the end of the new membership year, in effect "topped up" your 475 SCs for last year to 600 SCs- although this didn't phsycally happen this way - and credited the 300 SCs on Sep-1 (again, assuming a Aug-31 end date for your last membership year).

I'm too unsure what you have as an "overall loss" to discuss with QFF?

Regards,

BD

Just a note that Bayside is already Lifetime Gold based on her avatar info.

Nevertheless I totally agree with everyone’s replies. Start again after anniversary date.

Is the crux of the boost essentially (a) everyone will get 50% of the required status credits for requal gifted to them (meaning 50% less credits required overall to retain) and therefore that (b) everyone is at least guaranteed a soft landing?

Thank you all from Bayside (gender male).
So now I better understand the accounting technique used by Qantas to arrive at the SC number of 315. Simple really!!
No need to contact Qantas which is a relief.

Not quite. Everyone that falls out of a status, whether requal-5 or 0 SCs at year end, gets a soft landing ... the next status down (e.g. gold gets demoted to silver). It is to help you retain your existing status.

The bonuses weren’t 50%, it was more elaborate than that. Depending on your year end you might get topped up more than 50% of the requal requirement.
