Looks like this honeypot has all dried up? They're adding the taxes now?
No, the difference was never "Taxes" - it was the removal of carrier imposed fuel levies from booking costs by regulation for bookigns made in Brazil.

The fares from the cheaper fare buckets simply get made unavailable for such bookings, thus increasing the revenue Qantas get from the sales in lieu of fuel surcharges.

There’s been a schedule change with SYD-SIN now leaving an hour earlier but no corresponding change with my connecting flight from MEL. My booking now only shows a 30 min connection in SYD. Expedia’s email says they’ve already accepted the changes on my behalf and there is no need to confirm with them. QF just told me that only the travel agent which booked the ticket can change the connecting flight. Is there any risk to me just showing up extra early at the airport and hope to be put up on an earlier flight?

Same, but I wasn't aware of this until someone from the Sao Paolo office gave me a call about two hours ago.
The guy said I had two options.
Get on the MEL-SIN direct flight, or
get the 7am flight from MEL connecting via SYD.

I told him I prefer the first one but he said he may not be able to get it so I said the second one is acceptable.

He said he would call me back +email once he had spoken to Qantas.

I'm glad you got someone who could speak English! Or, you're fluent in Portuguese.

I have had to do something similar with these flight changes - called last night prepared with the phrase indicated up thread, but was answered by an agent who's English was fine and who had little problem with my careful 'strine.

All sorted with an new flight to match the hour time difference.

I was also notified of an intinerary change via an expedia.br email. The change meant I couldn't make the connection between Sydney terminals in time, so I needed to change to an earlier flight. I was set to call Brazil, but thought I'd give the QF premium desk a try first. The person I spoke to kindly made the change for me, which was unexpected and very welcome.

They notified me by email and also tried to call me but the line wouldn't connect everytime I tried to answer. The flight change only affects one flight connection. I went from a 1hr 45min connection down to a 45min connection. I'm not too worried since it's in the same terminal at Changi and I won't have any check-in luggage. I just won't have time to enjoy the QF lounge... :(

I got TWO emails from them changing my SIN-MEL leg.

One said "Call us" with two numbers provided (and my name, my partner's name, and booking code listed).

I called the direct line and was transferred through to a "Your phone system has been successfully set up. Consult your manual to configure it" message.

I called the 1-800 number and got an offer for a $59 cruise, and told to wait to speak with an operator. Eventually it said "Call X number to speak with an operator" - after calling that number, I got through to some other service that was completely non-travel related.

Since it's the homeward bound trip, I'm not too worried about leaving for an overnight flight 1 hour early.

Decided to ring the QF Premium line and highlighted the changed schedule and the reduced transit time. The woman on the line was very nice and changed me to QF6. Now I'll be able to spend some quality time in the QF lounge and have a good feed before the flight. :)

How you figure?

This "deal" isn't all that effective until Qantas have a sale. At the moment, there is no sale.

Getting SIN return for $650 sounds pretty effective compared to QF.com, or any other full service carrier. QF51 is oversold on Saturday, thinking a PE ASA might see me in a Skybed ;).

Really ?
I think I owe you a beer or three. Or five lol.

Are there any other destinations apart from Singas for which this expedia Brazil loophole works? I thought I read somewhere that there are a few destinations but I cannot find it atm. Thanks

Depends on what sales are on, at present not much on offer!

So it's only when they have one of those Global or whatever sales? And only Asia? I've got cheap SG tickets but was looking for a different destination. What have been some other destinations previously? I tried HK when SG was cheap but that didn't work.

You dont have to wait until the sale..it just wont be very special...still cheaper than QF site.

Try BKK, NRT, MNL, CGK. Maybe some EU destinations too but not sure since I'm not interested in going to EU so never really checked but it worked last time for LHR.

Booked to MNL for much cheaper than QF site

Cheap Flight to LHR earlier this year under $1100.00 return in Y and again in October just a tad over $1300 return in Y. So yes.

Also checked when a sale was in the UK and manged to be able to find J class fares LHR-MEL for under $4500.00 return using the BR site.

At the moment the exchange rate is good at 0.45 versus 0.48 to 0,5 when I booked.

Seem you can still get $570 return MEL-SIN at the moment.

I need to ring and change a date/flight, so it seems a few people had luck in English speaking Brazilians...........

I spoke to four people of which one couldn't speak enough english to get by, but at least was able to say he doesn't speak english (in english). Just be prepared to wait - they and/or their system is not particularly quick!

Perhaps a bit OT for this thread but not sure where best to post.

A little bird tells me that there is an Asian (?) website where you can book cheap Jetstar domestic flights.
At this stage I can't convince the person who told me to divulge exactly where the flight was booked but I will keep prodding.
Anybody at the brains trust got any clues about this or heard any whispers they are willing to share?

If I find out is it safe to post the information here or best kept quiet?
