Qantas Sydney First Class Lounge

I'm wondering if you try and do the same award bookings over the phone rather than online, do you avoid the situation for example with the BNE-SYD-LAX where SYD to LAX is in Y. ie does a phone booking ensure you get to travel J all the way?
Possibly. There are a lot of anomalies with the QF award booking engine. Sometimes in your situation it is advisable to check different routings such as SYD-LAX, MEL-LAX and you may find a business class seat that does not show on the BNE-SYD-LAX or BNE-MEL-LAX. Book the business class flight and then worry about the BNE-SYD flight separately or try and book it through QF.

I believe the First Class part of the wing is still open¹ - the "end bit" is the Business class lounge.

You may need to access it from the same level as the Qantas First Class lounge

¹ It will close Q1 year (The Wing, Premium Airport Lounge, Hong Kong International Airport - Cathay Pacific)

The downstairs business part was closed and they were directing business ticket holders upstairs to the first class lounge. The sign saying Cabana was pointing to a building site wall (gyprock?) :(

FYI...

Bummer :( Visiting HKG in early October and was hoping to go to the cabanas. Think I might pay a visit to the Cabin instead ( as part of a general lounge tour )

Perhaps the cabanas have been closed for a few months due to the renovations.

The upper level of "the wing" has both Business and first class sections. The Business section is towards the South and the First Lounge is North towards emigration.

See here for a "virtual Tour": http://downloads.cathaypacific.com/cx/lounges/f01.html (May be a bit dated.)

As someone who's tried the lounge tour at HKG; leave a long transit, bring good walking shoes and be in good health. Trying to do three CX lounges in 3hrs while on the unknown, downhill slide to a dreadful chest infection is ill-advised.
