Qantas thanks its most loyal customers

Now the caveats, I think it is great that off duty staff get upgraded. Definitely not judging that or suggesting staff shouldn't be upgraded. But I do think that the good will of an upgrade for a platinum is equally valuable.
Personally I believe that upgrading your loyal frequent flyers (you judge whether this should be limited to Platinum One, Platinum, Gold etc) more frequently on a space available basis would be good for business. Why? Because if you knew that this airline looks after you more than the other airline then you are likely to fly them more often.

Are we likely to ever see that happen at Qantas? Not to the scale that we expect. I know you had some luck while they had the recent op-up promotion but I flew on flights within the time frames specified in empty business class cabins and did not receive anything.

So how well was the "promotion" implemented?

My luck was limited to a couple of 15:25 departures from SYD on 767s. I thought I had 3 free upgrades, but I can't think of what the 3rd upgrade would have been, so my memory has probably failed.

Otherwise, I think we completely agree about Qantas and the issue of free upgrades.

Not yet. Advice received 28 December that the wine had been despatched. Did not say from where!

Well, the saga of the wine delivery continues!

Received advice that the package had been despatched, as above. Then received notification of the Australia Post tracking of delivery.

As of 6.12 am this morning:
"On board with driver."
Then, at 15.24 pm:
"Attempted delivery. Unable to gain access."

Have had several people on the premises today and at least one at any time. General mail delivered to the mail room around the same time. Obviously no problem with access for whoever delivered that!

An extended phone call to Australia Post, which I won't bore you all with, with no satisfactory outcome.

Upshot:
"Collect it at the Post Office, where the driver will drop it off at the end of his rounds."

The punchline will be that the bottles are broken on delivery ....?

Anyone had better luck, and has actually received the long promised wine?

Wine collected from Post Office! (Not by me.)

So there is hope for others waiting on the elusive delivery.

Yering Station 2008 Chardonnay and 2007 Shiraz Viognier, for those who are interested.

Except:

For a limited time only, the next 3,500 members to join epiQure by Qantas Frequent Flyer can toast their new membership with 1 complimentary# bottle of 2005 Jacob’s Creek 35th Anniversary Padthaway Shiraz, valued at $130. Subsequent new members will receive a welcome wine gift of similar value. It’s our welcome gift to you and a taste of things to come.

Similar value? Oh well... still nice!

I took up epiQure membership when it was offered despite not having been affected by the strikes/lockout. I was emailed on Thursday to say the order had been dispatched and today this arrived. I'm not much of an alcohol drinker so will probably give it away. (I always wanted to make my first post a happy one :D)

When you give them away, make sure you let the lucky recipient of the Chardy know its currently being served in the F lounge!

Congratulations on your first post too. It is a happy one! Welcome!

Well I finally got my wine today (dumped on the porch in the sun without so much as a knock on the door - thanks delivery person - not!), and as with others it is Yering Station Shiraz Viognier and YS Chardonnay.

The interesting thing is that looking at the back label on each bottle, both say "Produced by Yering Station 38 Melba Highway Yarra Glen etc...", but on the back of the red it also says "Imported by Enotria Wine Cellars Ltd London NW10 etc..." and on the white "Imported by RWG (USA) LLC NAPA CALIFORNIA".

Which on the surface suggests I have two well travelled bottles of wine (and to different parts of the world to boot). Anyone know if this is as it seems? Or perhaps cancelled exports?

Nothing for me yet. When I check the status of my order, using the link supplied in the email, I get:

Article ready for despatch MPF BULK LETTERS (PROFIT CTR)

29/12/11 15:00

whatever that means?

Perhaps cancelled exports or maybe they export to those two countries and just use one label that is common to both the domestic and overseas markets-would probably save them the cost of printing 3 different labels.
Cheers

That was what mine said when I checked it last night.

Just checked now and 3 new entries:

06/01/12 09:17 Delivered BURWOOD DC
06/01/12 06:43 Onboard with driver BURWOOD DC
06/01/12 06:40 In Transit BURWOOD DC

Looking at the time it was 'Onboard with driver' I realise why there may not have been a knock on the door. :)

Could be, Nigelinoz (welcome back BTW). If I remember I'll check one out at the bottle shop to see (not sure if they'll be same vintage though).

The fulfilment house prepared the lodgement on the 29th but only go the PO to pick it up on the 3rd!

My wine arrived yesterday - left on the shaded doorstep as requested, and +1's arrived today.
Both were 'ordered' on the same day!

S/O's wine arrived yesterday.
His Epiqure membership was "gifted" by QF long before mine.
My delivery (with all its shifts and shades) arrived on 3 Jan - the Yering Station package, as previously reported.
His was Brokenwoond Wade Block 2 Shiraz, 2008 and 2009.

That's what mine says as well (except the dates are both 03/01/12).

I received the "ordered" email on the 21/12 ... I hope if I order anything for real it'll be a bit quicker :)
Christmas and whatnot I guess!
