Qantas thanks its most loyal customers

I was just reading through the presentation that has been referenced earlier and I noticed that International routes are only to be services by A380s by 2021.

Does this this mean that PER-SIN will get one of the big birds, or more likely IMO, that this route will go to jet* solely? If this is the case then I will most probably be jumping to *A. Or maybe just VA when they announce PER-LON direct.

I am more inclined to think that it reflects the fact that some of the 787's haven't been assigned anywhere. There's just a comment that the allocation was still to be determined.

(Either that or Qantasia will be doing all the regional stuff )

Indeed it does in the diagram, but there is this footnote: "Additional B787. Allocation TBD - based on return measures"

I don't know exactly what that means, but I guess (without knowing the practicalities of same) they could put (QF) 787s on PER-SIN.

I just got a "thank you from qantas" letter in the post. Anyone else get this?

It's basically a reminder about the double FF points period (between Nov 16 - Dec 23), and also the free 12 month epicure membership.

Unfortunately I have no QF flights booked during the double FF point period and the epicure membership is of no interest to me.

I received something similar in email format. no letter yet.

Pretty clear from the presentation that the long term intention is for QF international to just fly the big trunk routes SYD/MEL (maybe BNE) to LAX/DFW/HKG/SIN/LHR and a few others. Maybe PER-LHR non-stop on A380, might be possible. Everything else will go to Jetstar. I have always suspected as much.

You're being far too generous.

The only routes that I'd wager are 100% certain are SYD-SIN-LHR and SYD-LAX. Everything else are various levels of maybe, in something resembling the following order (just a guess IMHO):

- MEL-SIN-LHR / MEL-LAX
- BNE-SIN / PER-SIN / ADL-SIN
- BNE-LAX
- SYD-DFW / DFW-BNE
- SYD-HKG / MEL-HKG
- PER-HKG / BNE-HKG / SYD-BKK
- SYD-AKL / MEL-AKL / BNE-AKL (Jetconnect)
- AKL-LAX / LAX-JFK (Jetconnect)

As far as I can tell, everything else can be fobbed off to Jetstar.

I'd have BNE-LAX, SYD-DFW and DFW-BNE, SYD-HKG (already announced as 380), MEL-HKG and BNE-SIN (currently 744) all well ahead of ADL-SIN, and even PER-SIN ahead of ADL-SIN!

What we're all forgetting is that is 10 years away. Look at the past 10 years and how much has changed. I don't think their "predictions" will be real case. (Feel happy to come back and quote me in 10 years time ;))

There was a figure towards the end of the presentation that claimed profit stability on routes to Japan, the Americas and Africa. The profit unstable/non-profit routes were the rest of asia and europe, which had a striking similarity to the figure showing the growth routes they are targetting in Asia. Based on this it seems that Europe has been addressed by diverting through routes to SIN, and partnering with BA for BKK and HKG. Any expansion in Europe will be via Jetstar (anyone else notice the figure in the Jetstar section with an orange dot on europe). Expansion in Asia will be via jetstar as well or the RedQ (whatever is happening with that)

Other routes would be unchanged.

Have flown a reasonable amount in the past week WW-SYD-MLB-BNE-SYD-WW and WW-Syd-WW so I have been collecting some nice bonus points, I head for Japan next week so even more bonus points.

Interesting, I did MEL-HBA return in Y on Nov 17-19 and got 2x 1000 pt bonuses, did the same return on Dec 8-9 and got 2x 250 pt bonuses (I'm PS).

Obviously I was only supposed to get 250 bonus points per flight but hey I'm not complaining!

Do you mean Melbourne, Victoria (MEL) or Melbourne, Florida (MLB)?

You will probably find another set of 2x1000 point bonuses find their way through to you as part of the 91st birthday pro

Well no sign of the night before OpUp again but at least I am in 23A rather than 25.

Just re the bonuses - are people expecting 91st birthday and industrial disputes bonuses?

Yering Station 2-Pack? I think it was another wine before...

It has been a Jacobs Creek for a few months.

And IIRC allegedly a 'rare' one 'worth' $135 (though I'm sure that's not its real value).

Yering Station is a nice drop, and 2 bottles of that would do me nicely. (I got the same mail). :)

And a similar message for me, also. Those couriers will be busy!
