I've been wondering what time the upgrades are processed.... No joy for me yet. EF shows J9 so I don't think any upgrades have been processed yet (it's a 737).

I'm on a 767 at 15:25, so just makes the cut off. EF is now showing J9 C9 D9 I2 and U6. I pretty much thought it would be a no brainer to get the upgrade. I checked in at about 16:30...

I'll be interested to see how my 737 at 20:45 goes next week

The seat number only seems to change for the upgrade when you check in. So for eligible flights I have been sure to check in at the earliest time (24 hours before departure) just in case they are granted on a first-in first-served basis. So far my success rate is 2 from 3.

Why would I even think I could be so lucky to have a special upgrade using OLCI?

No upgrade for me :(

Bit disappointing as EF shows flight is J9 C9 D9 U3 and seat map shows J is empty!

U3 - you could burn the points*. Shame that's not the point.... :(

* Oops, probably not if it is within 24 hours

Same thing happened to me on a couple of flights (admittedly, golden triangle, but within the time frames specified earlier in this thread). Numbers came down a bit after check-in opened, but there was most certainly still U availability just before the flight closed, and some J seats empty on board. So no slightly-increased love from the OP gods here either. :p

I've been shown the Qantas love recently - last 5 dom flights (over last 2 weeks) - 4 op-ups !:D

1 at gate, 2 at airport 'check in' and 1 on OLCI.

Thanks Qantas

You're dead to me now ;)

No wonder our relationship is on the rocks!

Time to click the ignore user feature I think!

Last two flights of the year next week so let's wait and see...

Does anyone remember the criteria for op-ups during this "promotion" period? Between certain times (peak times) and availability in business class?

Well tonight's flight was the perfect candidate and it still did not happen. It was a 734 at 7:25pm and there were only 2 people in business class.

Only times where mentioned. That is pretty cough to only have 2 in J.

-For SYD / MEL / BNE / ADL and CBR, this process will only be available Monday to Friday between 0500-0900 and 1500-2000 bases on the customer’s originally booked flight.

-For services from PER to SYD,MEL and BNE the offering will be all day Monday to Friday

Having checked the times looks like my 20:45 flights is out, anyway.

I had OGS (1-2-2 configuration) on Friday. Interesting J seats. I'll have to check the qantas source for the story. But obviously very old seats, blue with push button adjustment and individual fold out IFE screen. But the screen was only about 7" and only had a flight track display and the usual domestic main screen shows. Read the news paper instead.

They are called "Dreamtime" seats and were cutting edge when Qantas intruduced them for Business Class in the latter part of the 90's. Better still than any Millennium seat IMHO.

In October I travelled on a very similar seat on a USair 752 - they called it "Envoy" seating.

Much better and a very nice bonus on domestic J from time to time and of course still being used by QF on the SYD-HNL run:(

Have a 5:30pm flight tomorrow. It is a 734 and it was one of those that was swapped from a 767 to a 738 and now a 734 so I could not select a seat online due to the bug and had no allocated seat with a forward aisle preference in the profile.

Used OLCI a few minutes ago but not only did I not get an op-up but my pre-allocated seat was 5B () with a wide open cabin!
