Qantas thanks its most loyal customers

Have a 5:30pm flight tomorrow. It is a 734 and it was one of those that was swapped from a 767 to a 738 and now a 734 so I could not select a seat online due to the bug and had no allocated seat with a forward aisle preference in the profile.

Used OLCI a few minutes ago but not only did I not get an op-up but my pre-allocated seat was 5B (:shock:) with a wide open cabin! :shock:

I hate that!!

I can't imagine what your doing wrong.... :shock:

Maybe The Shadow has 5A and 5C? I must admit, I do like The Shadow's company.

(I've noticed that when late-ish aircraft subtitutions occur the seat map can go quite empty even on quite full flights - seems to be a bug in the system?)

Was just reading the QF 2011 STRATEGY DAY - INVESTOR PRESENTATION as outlined to the ASX.

Very ineresting reading and some of the presentations made for very interesting reading.

Simon Hickey didn't mention AFF :o

I am probably being picky but the exec photos look a bit like my sons school photos, you know the ones where the photographer cannot get all the kids to sit straight!

I wonder if they have a Mole in BITRE given they have not released Nov OTP figures yet QF seem to have them??

Not only no love so far but on Thu/Fri flights I still can't get further forward that 25!

That's really cheeky misrepresentation of data....the people who did this graph are either a) incompetent or b) deliberately misleading the shareholders. Not cool.

Since this thread began I have been lucky enough to receive a fair few benefits from QF. Probably the most important are the 98,000 91st birthday bonus points. :) A gift from epiqure is, apparently, en route to me. I have had two upgrades, using points, to F which made my journey almost pleasant. (I'm not sure the latter is part of the loyal customer reward plan but i have only managed to get 1 upgrade to F in my previous 12 years!!)

On top of this it seems that domestic priority boarding is being implemented.

All in all not bad....but not enough to retain my previous, almost blind, devotion to QF. My domestic travel will go to VA, as will some international travel. I'm loving the complimentary upgrades and to a certain extent the novelty of flying VA. More importantly I find VA's customer service excellent. I'm yet to have a bad experience with VA so I am of course wearing my rose coloured spectacles!! (I have routinely experienced poor QF customer service.)

There are routes that necessitate QF/OW flights so I'll, at a minimum maintain WP and probably PG, but in my next status year QF will lose about $30k of my business.

I'd be interested to know how other FF's see the rewards for loyalty and how, if at all, they will influence future bookings.

The recent incentives - such as the bonus points are nice - but in the end have not changed my travel plans during the short-term promotion period.

Ultimately, as a WP - what makes me remain loyal in my future travel spend to QF (or any airline for that matter) - in somewhat order of importance:
  • Looking after me when things go wrong;
  • When I have a complaint - making a genuine effort to fix it rather than just give me lip service;
  • Making me feel valued - this can be a simple in-flight greeting/acknowledgement, newspaper, occasional upgrade, shadow etc;
  • Provision of published benefits on a consistent and reliable basis.

I just got a "thank you from qantas" letter in the post. Anyone else get this?

It's basically a reminder about the double FF points period (between Nov 16 - Dec 23), and also the free 12 month epicure membership.

Unfortunately I have no QF flights booked during the double FF point period and the epicure membership is of no interest to me.

Just got the letter (which is a bit useless not to mention wasteful), I also have no flights booked during the period and the epicure membership doesn't interest me either....

are we twins??

I and mrssimongr got the letter a day or so ago as well. Interesting how it refers to the bonus points as compensation for the grounding rather than referencing the 91st birthday...

Seems like a bit of a waste of paper, especially for people who have already received the email and selected to receive correspondence that way rather than by snail mail.

Every cost saving measure should count! ;)

not to mention postage.....

I was just reading through the presentation that has been referenced earlier and I noticed that International routes are only to be services by A380s by 2021.

Does this this mean that PER-SIN will get one of the big birds, or more likely IMO, that this route will go to jet* solely? If this is the case then I will most probably be jumping to *A. Or maybe just VA when they announce PER-LON direct.
