Qantas to launch in-depth partnership with Accor ALL

Always prefer to book direct with ALL. Have gotten decent upgrades as Gold, and welcome drinks are alright. I reckon I get at least $20 extra value from that, which offsets extra points earn had I booked with Qantas Hotels. Plus, keep that status going with ALL earning stay nights and points etc.

You will get Accor status nights and points if you book through Accor, but not if you book elsewhere
Not entirely true. I book thru works CT- using the GDS- so we get full benefits/points etc. Can be a pain when they fail to link your membership to the booking- but a phone call prior to the stay fixes that.

Just to add that there's nearly always ~5% cashback to be had (via the usual providers Cashrewards & Shopback) when booking direct. It can be as good as 12% during an upsized cashback promo, which is usually at least once per month although we are overdue for one now:

10 Jun - Shopback 10%
6 Jun - Cashrewards 8%
23 May - Cashrewards 8%
17 Apr - Shopback 9.5%
25 Mar - Shopback 8.5%
10 Mar - Shopback 12%
5 Mar - Shopback 8.5%
25 Feb - Shopback 8.5%
20 Feb - Cashrewards 10%
18 Feb - Shopback 8.5%

If booking a participating property in Aus/NZ/Fiji, especially when booking a non-refundable rate, there's also the option of discounted Accor gift cards (but note that you can't stack GCs and cashback, so pick whichever is more favourable)

How do you use these? Do you really have to call the hotel to make a booking as instructed on the gift card? Are the rates over the phone the same as the rates offered online?

I've never used one - I prefer the cashback route as it works with Accor properties globally, Accor Plus rates, is better for flexible bookings, and at least in the case of my GC provider (HCF) offers a similar or better saving.

No. You just need to book a rate that ISN'T prepaid. Usually, you settle the charges at the end of the stay with the credit card on file but with the giftcard you just use that first instead. I quite liked using gift cards before I had Accor Plus, and charge any additional expenses (i.e. breakfast) to the room so you can pay it all with the gift card. A lot of front desk associates (especially the more junior ones) don't really know what to do with the gift card though so it is a bit of a hassle at times.

Direct or via a traditional / Corp TA is fine. But you’ll never see a Corp TA booking appear online via Accor app/website.

I'm missing the ALL Rewards points for the inbound flight of an eligible return J trip from SYD-SIN. The outbound was credited without any intervention. Accor tells me it has to come from the QF side (which makes sense), but I can't find a relevant form on QF's site for this type of claim. Anyone found where to do this, or is it something I need to call up or write to QFF about? <shudders>

Cheers,
Matt.

I would email [email protected] as a first step, wait a week, then call and quote the SR. If you have Accor's advice in writing, I would attach it to the email.
OK, thanks - I don't have it in writing, unfortunately; It was from a discussion with Accor Plus over the phone.

I look forward to seeing what the earn rates and reciprocal benefits are.

ALL's not the most amazing loyalty program for earning potential (it's effectively a flat 5% cashback at core brands before status bonus) and the status experience varies wildly by property, but their ubiquity in Australia all the way from the ibis budget end of the market up to the Sofitels et al make them a decent partner for Qantas IMO.

Pure guess work but I reckon this is how it'll pan out:
- Base earn rate of 1 QFF point per dollar on Accor stays, and 1 ALL point per dollar on Qantas flights.
- Status bonus for ALL points earned from Qantas flights in line with existing ALL status bonus - Silver +25%, Gold +50%, Plat/Diamond +80%
- Status bonus for Qantas points earned from Accor stays either as above, or in line with Qantas status bonus (+50/75/100%)
- Qantas Gold get ALL Silver, Qantas Plat get ALL Gold (which isn't particularly coveted given you can buy it), Qantas P1/CL get ALL Plat
- Existing ALL Gold or Plat (and higher) and get something like QFF Silver after one Qantas flight, a couple of lounge passes, or a status challenge like 200 SC in 90 days for QFF Gold.
- Points conversion from ALL to Qantas will be removed

Cant wait to return to this post in mid 2021 and see how close I am 😁

You'll now earn both Qantas and ALL points on your Accor stays, rather than need to transfer them across, hence the double-dip. You'll also start earning ALL points on your Qantas flights.
It is good development for travelers heading to EU.

Accor S.A. is a French multinational hospitality company that owns, manages and franchises hotels, resorts and vacation properties.

We used Accor hotels and now look forward booking them with the flights. 👏

The actual cross benefits are rather different from the early speculation that @sudoer posted. They do vary according to ALL and QFF status though, as predicted. In short a qualifying hotel stay gets you a good bonus haul of QFF points irrespective of status, and if you are QFF gold or above you get a very modest bonus of ALL points on your QF flights.

Note in particular that the QFF points bonus only apply to hotel stays in Asia-Pacific, not in EU. And of course you need to book with ALL, not with say Qantas Hotels as part of your flight booking.
