QANTAS to launch their own credit card in tie-up with Citibank

Just sent in my application today. First non-Amex card I've applied for in quite a while. Main thing working against me is the length of time in my current job... sucks being a career changer. I only asked for a $6k limit; not sure what is the use in having a higher one (don't usually make any multi-thousand dollar payments), plus I'm not sure if having higher credit limits altogether reflects badly on one's credit.

The documentation requirements are a load of bull. 60 day maximum age of issue of document? For payslips, employment contracts or letters of employment? What kind of rocks in the head do the people at Citi have? Granted, the banks have been dragged over the coals by the government for not checking people thoroughly enough as to whether they are fit to hold a line of credit, but this is nuts.

I get paid monthly, so the second last payslip I have would either be just inside or just outside the 60 day "limit". Most people only get one employment contract at the start of their job, rendering that as not an ideal document unless you just started the job. Then they expect you just to go to your employer and ask for proof of employment, because a copy of an original contract, payslips and the fact they have the employer details aren't good enough? I'll stick with "rocks in their head" because the piece of my mind description would be against the ToS.

Some of this rant may have already been discussed previously.

I run my own Pty Ltd Company so they rang ME to confirm MY salary details provided on the application. Bit bizzare

You were probably supposed to refer them onto the Minister for War and Finance. ;)

As a business owner, weren't you supposed to supply the contact details of your accountant? They could have called them. I suppose you could have cajoled / bribed your accountant to inflate your details, though that would be fraud....

No, I simply assured them that the details provided were correct

I think Georg Jensen may have been pleased with my first use of Mrscove's credit card. They had a 20% off one day sale on everything which is very unlike them. The staff member commented that she had never seen them do such an offer.
Now I have to think what to put on my new card to get my 60,000 sign on points.

Some times, Hyatt Global hotels offer double stay points for Master Card and this is why I keep the MC.

Wine. You can thank me later :)

Daver6 I have ended up with lots of wine in our cellar in Perth. I recently received 5 cartons of reds that remain sealed and I may have more than a thousand bottles down there getting lonely. I am still thinking about what to put on this card.

JohnM and I would happily keep them company :)

That might be a good idea Daver6. Those bottles are getting quite lonely. My consumption has slumped as I have been on a bit of a health kick.
Do you live in a suburb close enough to Perth?

I sure do. I'm somewhere between the CBD and ocean. As does JohnM when he is actually in town on yet another holiday :)

I have JohnMs contact details as we were at Wembley Primary School for a couple of years as students. If you PM me I will see if we can get together. Often JohnM is away from Perth but I guess so am I.
Still thinking about first use of this new credit card.

Has anyone had any issues with card activation?

I cannot activate it despite entering the correct details. I'm now locked out.

I phoned them on Friday and they said it was activated. Tried to login and still locked out.

Phoned again today and they said it has something to do with mothers maiden name not matching up to QFF profile. ( Thing is, there is nowhere in QFF profile to even put mothers maiden name that I can find). They told me that the loyalty centre won't be back until next Saturday and that I will need to call back then. UGHH

Exactly the same issue. Had to call and get the maiden name reset as it was wrong. What I found annoying is the fact QF money could not reset it and it had to be done via FF services

My saga now into week three. After requesting a review of the application 2 weeks ago because they had used my base contract hours instead of my 'real' hours, I had heard nothing. Payroll office at work had not been contacted. Phoned Friday to be told that they don't review applications! I replied 'not what I was told' (that's the short reply), asked to speak with assessment team and given same answer to which I made the same reply. Citibank agent told me that person I had spoken to 2 weeks ago obviously did not know the correct policy - not my problem.

Looking for another avenue to contact Citibank locally and the chat icon popped up! No high expectations but got a number to call and was instructed to tell whoever answered that I was to be transferred to a Sydney office. Citi agent there typed my complaint as I spoke and when I mentioned a similar thing happened last year when applying for Citi Plat and that a lovely gentleman in Sydney had rubber stamped my application in 30 minutes, I was asked could I remember with whom I spoke - no - but was able to provide some info that produced a name that struck a chord! 'He works in this office - will review your application with him and get back to you on Monday/Tuesday'.

I said at this point while I would like the card, I could care less whether they gave it to me or not, just worried about the enquiry on my Veda report.

cove - Godot might just show up this time albeit by the long road!

Bazzi just relax as this is Citi at their finest. I think you would enjoy that play now.
I spent a dozen years involved in theatre and "Waiting for Godot" was special.

My partner had this too. He had no Mother's maiden name in his QFF profile. He rang up Qantas Premier which then had to patch him through to Loyalty to fix up his QFF profile. There were also a couple of other errors in his FF profile which got fixed up at the same time (including incorrect DOB..?!). Card was activated ok after that. I remember that we had to enter the same deets on the application form so it's strange that it couldn't use the application info to validate.

Got two calls in two days with all sorts of identity verification questions. The most extensive identity checking I've ever been through - had to remember previous addresses (including one that I haven't lived at for over 15 years) and so on. Almost comical and had to check that it wasn't someone trying to phish my identity.

Was told to upload more ID documents to application file, but within 30 minutes received messages that I was approved. Called back and confirmed the documents were no longer required.

Just wish the card would be sent faster to me so I can activate and start spending; already holding off on a few expenses so I can start using this card.

They asked me about an address in 1992 and another in 1996
