Qantas to release thousands of Classic Reward seats in Y, PE, J, F on 24 Feb 2023 around 11am

So back to normal now?

360,000 points one way economy for SIN-BNE. Don't quite have enough points for 3 seats. Can someone please lend me some points?

This joke just keeps giving.
If you are careful JohnK you can find about 480,000 pp for business.
(If that helps?)

Anyone noticed some enhancements when trying to book domestic connections on this release? I get a generic error before the payment screen when trying to book any flights to the americas with a Perth-Sydney leg also in the mix.

Are you using AA for the connecting flight? or do you end up on Alaska or WestJet? As that means you then end up using different award tables and pricing each leg separately. Seems unlikely this is the issue but thought I'd mention it anyway.
Yeah, I was wondering the same too!

For what it’s worth, finally got one of my three “error” PNRs ticketed. I let two auto-cancel as I didn’t need them.

Took four calls, the fourth agent was competent. The previous three had advised they’d taken manual payment, queued for ticketing etc however agent 4 confirmed they’d done absolutely nothing and it wasn’t going to ticket. To her credit, she seemed genuinely p’d off at them. Happily gave me their full names and encouraged me to make a complaint. Unsurprisingly, their names didn’t match the ones I was told 🙄. Unsure if this was them intentionally lying or not. Would seem difficult to comprehend that a company based in Cape Town would be forcing black staff to adopt white names.

don't click on flight availability, click on awards and upgrades and then choose business- award and upgrade (U)
You can also use the Flight Availability query in EF, as well, and it’s better in many respects as you get to see the full picture, not just the award buckets P, U, Z & X.

You just need to remember to select the USA Point of Sale option, instead of Australia, else they don’t show up consistently.

Cheers,
Matt.

Managed to snag Sydney- Dallas Ft W in J for October there were a couple left 1 hour ago on my mobile phone

Thanks for the replies guys, but even using 'Multi City' I am still only seeing the 6 day view when the search results come back, not the month view as above...?

If you put in the equivalent of a return as 2 legs in multi-city i.e. SYD-SIN + SIN -SYD it will revert to that view

Try instead adding another leg after a stop over to ensure you get the calendar view (or do an open jaw itinerary).

I snagged a MEL > HND one way in October.

Didn't look to be much available for the return leg.
I came back on Sat morning about 6am (yup, when no-one else was awake)
and found MEL-HND ret (63000 pts) for the 2nd half of October so the tickets are out there.

Now the wait for the e-ticket to confirm it ...

Booked syd-cmb J for October. Then found earlier J flights so booked that, couldn't cancel the 1st booking as ticket hadn't been issued. Neither tickets had been issued and was approaching the 24hour window for free cancellation, so last night I phoned (shudder) to cancel the 1st booking.
Simple, done, this morning I see remaining booking ticket issued, cancelled booking disappeared from app, a refund appears on the cr card.
BUT, she refunded the $ for the active booking (about$350) not the cancelled booking (about$450). I'm worried I now have an unpaid ticket which will now be cancelled.
DON'T PH QANTAS!

Well, at least you have an e-ticket, so you will be able to board the flight. Let QF worry about the $$$ unless you are up for another phone call 🤷‍♀️. Unless you are SOL.

Yes and no. An e-ticket can be cancelled due to non-payment… or at least if the computer thinks it hasn’t been paid. If the agent refunded the wrong one it’ll catch up and even if the pax has an e ticket, the coupons in it may not be valid (and not allowed to board).

I noticed this morning that we’re still not back to normal releases of X number of F, J, W and Y seats on long haul routes. Instead we might get a couple of W but no Y. I did see some flights on 14 Feb with whY but nothing else.

Maybe 14 Feb was a bad data point being V Day… See what tomorrow has in store - if the website can hold up.

Any tips on how to find oneworld carriers from Asia to Europe or home from JNB at any time of year? I miss the old Oneworld trip planner/interactive map, and can't make the new one or Flight Connections work as easy to give me options. I'm searching for a OWA for 4 (eek) and am pretty flexible with time and destinations

Pay for Flight Connections to filter by alliance. Or check Wikipedia for airports to determine which airlines fly out of there.

It's not that hard because there aren't that many options.

Eg from JNB to Australia, you really only have Qantas, Cathay via HKG or BA via LHR.

And if you're looking for 4 in J, you're basically reliant on something approaching a miracle (eg like the recent mass release of Qantas where there were 4 in J on some flights to the US).
