Qantas to release thousands of Classic Reward seats in Y, PE, J, F on 24 Feb 2023 around 11am

You can also use the Flight Availability query in EF, as well, and it’s better in many respects as you get to see the full picture, not just the award buckets P, U, Z & X.

You just need to remember to select the USA Point of Sale option, instead of Australia, else they don’t show up consistently.

Cheers,
Matt.

That works for QF but not all airlines. Some (such as AA), award classes are excluded in the availability search. You have to do the specific award query for those.

True - but we’re talking about QF here… and it’s the better method for them

There was partner seats released as well as part of this, not everyone Is searching for QF metal.

The award page does have the advantage of showing which clases are the award codes, which would have answered OP’s question.

switch to the Use Points box!
Sorry, had done that but that stupidly wasn't on the screenshot I pasted in :(

And yes, is response to another reply, I was logged into my FF account.

BUT, I think I've worked it out. It's that, being a very popular (and high fare) period, there were no Reward Seats available 14 days either side of both my departure date and return date. As soon as I widened the dates considerably to well before and after my actual dates, and something became available, the calendar view displayed.

I think :) ...

I’m also having problems with using multi flight to get a good overview of award flights during a month. I must have done this a thousand times over the years so I’m not a novice.

I’m trying to see the month of November view of award flights to Hamilton Island from Brisbane and return. They are there so that’s not the issue, it’s the seeing them in that month view format.

I’m logged in, points only ticked, flexible dates. 🤷‍♀️.

Any other suggestions?

It's not in the month view because it's a domestic search you're doing.

If you do international, the month view will come up.

Nope, I'm clearly missing some really basic step because I just can't seem to get that calendar view to come up...
Looks like you are searching for a single flight, not a multi-city.

The calendar view only comes up for Multi-City searches and you need to select "points" not cash.

I came back on Sat morning about 6am (yup, when no-one else was awake)
and found MEL-HND ret (63000 pts) for the 2nd half of October so the tickets are out there.

Now the wait for the e-ticket to confirm it ...
I should have clarified my MEL-HND was in J

For what it's worth I also jumped on and jagged the return leg in Y, feels great to have the entire journey booked through points. Like others I'd only really started hoarding points during Covid but they'd felt kinda useless til now.

Thanks very much.

Only used it in the past for International. It’s such a user friendly way of looking for award flights if you’re flexible with dates.

Definitely! It's much better than the regular view with the tabs for the different classes of cabins (as if you are doing a regular cash purchase), but unfortunately it doesn't come up for domestic searches unless one portion is international.

I know it’s all been hectic and terrible with IT and auto-cancels.

But I’m grateful for 3x J to LHR in July/August, and 3x J to LAX (return from YVR) Dec/Jan.

Mind you, I think as a P1 I would have gotten access to these anyway.

But a good use of 1.4m points, to take the QF balance to 0-ish.

I managed 2 x PE seats to SIN late November, now just have to convince QF to release 2 seats for the return (as WP).

was able to book Y for the family (2xadults, 2xkids) SYD-BKK Dec 25, was able to get J SYD-SIN Dec 25 last year which was great. hopefully will J be released if they do another batch release later this year.

still grateful i can use some of my excess QFF points. Already have returning home on a Krisflyer J reward so have already saved well over $10k on airfares.
