Qantas to release thousands of Classic Reward seats in Y, PE, J, F on 24 Feb 2023 around 11am

I am able to get flights come up, but then before I can do anything it changes to a new page "Sorry, an error seems to have occurred, and this page cannot be displayed"

Qantas website now says:

"We’re aware some customers are experiencing errors when searching for flights and are working on this as a priority. In the meantime, please continue to refresh your browser. Our contact centres are experiencing long wait times due to this increased demand. If not urgent we encourage you to contact us online or at another time. "

Got through to the passengers names for 5 x J BNE-SYD-LHR for just before Christmas. Kept crashing after entering all passenger details (page before payment). Did the same for all available days through to 26th.

Spent 1.5 hours on the phone as WP. Lady said they still haven't released the seats westward yet. They started on the east and slowly making way through them. However, she said that they could still do a seat release on the dates I was after so we have put that through. Wait and see what happens from here. So frustrating.

I ended up calling - was on hold for 15 mins and booked my flights after 1 hour with the consultant earlier this morning after frustratingly persevering with 500 Errors for 30 mins!

Data point: I just got through on the phone after a 25 minute hold - not too bad considering website meltdown - to try to add a leg to a OWA. It was my second change for the day. Sadly because change #1 is unticketed (of course) the agent said they couldn't make additional changes. Bugger. Right now I kind of hope the website keeps glitching out so that no one can nab the F seat I have my eyes on. Lol.

Nothing surprising there I'm afraid. It's peak ski travel time and school holidays so historically impossible to get classic awards.

HUACA you can make changes if it hasn't been ticketed, if anything that will easier to do and save 5,000pts change fee.

2 J tix for mother & father inlaw SYD-SFO July. 1 way.

wanted from MEL, but wouldn't come up, any chance I can call up & get the MEL_SYD leg added, it falls within the same miles bracket?

Better feeling getting these tix for family than myself.

EDIT: ticket issued so I was told can't add a leg, must purchase MEL-SYD leg & can link to SFO leg & bags will go thru.

What a cough show, classic seat qantas show extravaganza today @11 am,site in error most of time got to credit card section 6 times every time it crashed and burned….luckily I got thru to qantas and complained and got 2 Syd-LHR business seats for November ….2 hrs not wasted, a little win for the plebs

Well wow, after trying all morning and seeing my preferred dates dry up, finally got 2xJ MEL-LHR via SYD on QF1 in OCT. now to work out how I am getting home

I can see the booking in Manage My Booking, but they haven't taken points or cash from my card.

So, I checked before and that flight had disappeared.

Fortunately, there was still a seat showing, so I tried doing a multi city booking for ADL-SYD-LAX, which it said it couldn't confirm (which was a pleasantly different error!). So went back to just doing a SYD-LAX booking, which has gone through and been ticketed.

Perhaps I can use my Virgin flight credit to fly over the night before

Since we're all talking about classic awards here - can someone remind me what the standard days in advance is for QF classic award seat inventory to be released? WP/WP1 is earlier than others, correct? And then is it based on Sydney time (AEDT / AEST), or some other timezone?

Don't worry - I'm not contributing to the pain with searching on QF at the moment, but planning something for mid 2024 and want to set some reminders Happy Hunting!

I've found a classic rewards business seat with better timing and on QF as well - currently on the phone to see if I can change.

It would be so much easier if we could amend rewards bookings via the manage booking portal rather than calling - but considering its QF, that's probably too much to ask for (much like the whole website debacle today!)
