Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I must not be subscribed to some of their emails then 😂 I only get the monthly frequent flyer updates and a few other things.
The email came to my account a day or so after it was highlighted on here

The were two good reasons for why you MIGHT take advantage of the offer

1. You qualify for Points Clubs so you could then use the points to buy flights and receive Status Credits

2. Revenue tics are often not available at the lowest price so it gives you flexibility to buy cheaper than by revenue

I just bought some, as it put me over the line for points club plus and the free Qantas Club membership which is a nice perk when flying economy domestically

For those looking at points - wine has some pretty good deals going atm.

Granted I have PCP so I get 3x (and extra 3x with the current promo and 10% off).

Apprently theres also a silent deal that gives 15k points per $1000 spend up to 6k.

This works out to be 1.3c per point for me and you get 36 bottles of wine.

Might look into this tomorrow… did they offer the bonus 15k proactively or did you need to ask for extra points?

So in theory, 60 bottles of wine, $2400 (as PCP) with 171,600 points @ 1.39c/point.

PCP has 10% off and 3x points (9x with promo).
2400 -10% = $2160 cash.
24k bonus x 5 = 120k
2160 x9 = 19764 pts
+30k bonus when you call to order.
Ends up being 169440.
Works out to be 1.275c per point and 60 bottles of wine.

Ah yes, you’re correct. My cart was still showing the non-PCP price for some reason. That’s a damn good deal… 🤔

Also adds a leaf for Green Tier.

to buy the rough equivalent points outright

115,000 plus 50% bonus = 172,500 = $3,120

what about the Whine?
and ZERO bottles of Wine

so what about CR redemption rate?

Sydney - Melbourne = 18,400 so spend to buy outright 165,000 points is $2,990
however each of the 9 trips costs $48 at booking = $432
Total Outlay = $3,422 plus gives you Points Club qualification so you can earn SCs on the CR tics

versus Wine Outlay = $2,160

Versus Revenue cost 9 trips @ $500 = $4,500

Savings - from $$1,078 to $2,360

You sure the 30k bonus is with the 10% PCP discount? I called previously on a different $1k+ order and the best they would do is offer 3k bonus points unless I am willing to forego the 10% PCP discount.

Not sure about that, but there's a silent bonus for may that is $2k+ for 30k. Whether thst applies with PCP or not I'm not sure actually. But even without PCP bonus you can get ~1.3c per point.

Thank you. You are right that it's better even without the 10% PCP bonus. At 1.3c per point, it's worthwhile even if the wine is only good for cooking!

yea, the next offer is in - as discussed in the headline article

what does interest me is the $cost hasn't changed - 50% bonus on 150,000 still sits at $3,999
vague memory its been that same $ price fore some time

Even with the cheapest option, the points in this promo come to 1.78c each. Ouch! Then someone goes and buys CR+ with that - and the house wins again very handsomely.
time will tell how best to tackle the situation
if its a case of outright "buying" airfares v CR v CR+ then it's possible to work out a rule of thumb - there was some info I drummed up in an earlier posting on here that suggested the sweet spots - see post 69 just above

I do note
yes, there are cheaper ways to acquire points - eg the recent 15,000 points for 3 x $3 hotel bookings in Indo x you/partner so 30,000 points gained for $18 or Qantas wine or CC churn
are there cheaper ways to burn points? that's the problem - book early enough in advance and you have the first challenge that the cheap Red-E deals are still available thus devaluing the alternate cash base outright purchase and making the"points" appear to be "a waste" v book within say 1-2 weeks, if still available where the lowest alternaative fare is now $350 (not $`150) and it sharpens the value of the points, but inevitably by then most CR have gone

i do note the co-payments on domestic fares have risen too
