Qantas Tweet and Greet MEL

Maybe a chance to double-up QF Tweet and Eat with a small AFF Do?

Though after the eating in the afternoon, might not make for a good eating out in the evening (viz. everyone too stuffed, and quite possibly too sloshed as well) :)

I'm actually going to be flying down from SYD on the Saturday and heading directly to the lunch (depending on the time). I can offer a lift to one, perhaps two people into the lunch (I have a small car without much of a back seat for those over 5'5"). The return will not be on offer due to alcohol consumption ;)

Not sure what flight ill be on as I'm connecting in from an international flight. Hoping to be on an 11 am flight out of SYD tho.

Flights booked - 7AM ex-SYD though - only J seats at a reasonable price - 4PM flight home.

I will hopefully see you there :)
I'm scheduled to be in CBR next weekend but will try to organise a leave pass with a JASA to get there

We’re happy to see a number of you were lucky enough to gain a spot at the Tweet and Eat. Sorry to those who missed out, there were limited spaces due to the chosen venue.

They are proving to be extremely popular and we hope to hold more in the near future. Follow us @QantasAirways to keep an eye out for other Twitter events.

As always, thanks for your enthusiasm and support. :D

Which would have been anytime today until around 2.30ish?

Unfortunately missed out found it 2 minutes after it had posted which was way too late :/

The frenzied pace at which the spots were taken... the only things I can compare them to is an old Jetstar 50c fare sale, or a killer international fare on NZ Grabaseat.

The only difference here? The sign on page for this event didn't crash.

I was working at my computer when the tweet arrived. Just as well my Twitter client decided to refresh just then. Seems like had it been mere seconds later....

It's interesting that Qantas chose this method for a competition. I didn't stand a chance.

Does that mean you are on the 409, Simon?

I'll be guesting DeKa into the J Lounge so I guess we'll see you there? Otherwise I'll wave to you in J from 23J ;)

It's all a bit serendipitous as I was flying down to MEL that weekend anyway. Looking forward to receiving confirmation of my spot soon!

It would seem that AFF will be well represented again!

Red Roo, whilst I know the formal details are coming next week, are you able to share a start time? I'm just trying to squeeze my return flight to MEL in and want to ensure I don't miss much (if any) of the event!

I am just browsing thread now.

Even if I bothered to use Twitter I wouldn't have had a chance. I am not going to sit at work with twitter up and pressing refresh all day. They actually keep statistics of who uses what and if you use it too much then they have a quiet word with you.

It's quite simple to have an automated program push an alert out to you when someone you follow tweets. This is how I got it. I was at lunch, an alert on my phone popped up with the URL and I tapped it, filled in the form and clicked 'done' within 15 seconds.

I still hate Twitter, but there are ways of automating it without the need to press refresh every 10 seconds.

IMHO it's great that QF are using these platforms (and doing it very well!) to engage their customer base. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but there's no denying that social media such as Facebook and Twitter have revolutionised the way a lot of people communicate. VA, JQ and a lot of other airlines around the world could take a leaf out of QF's book as far as this is concerned. Just consider how many AFFers have been able to have issues rectified by getting in touch with RedRoo or one of the QF social media team rather than the more "traditional" telephone or email channels

A pleasant coincidence that so many AFFers are on Twitter and were able to secure themselves a spot. Should be a great event!

Although I booked flights I am not 100% at the moment. It looks like my dog might die in the next day or two and that might impact my plans (note I am very good at compartmentalising so whilst I am sat here in tears I can still plan around things).

Just have to remember not to have meetings at bad times....
Or have partners birthdays on the same date with appropriate activities already organised.

(I'll be assisting with observation of 'driving miss daisy' in the PM. followed by HOTP in the evening)

:( :( I took a few days off work when this happened to us, totally understandable

Now you are expecting miracles.

I just do not have the motivation or the energy for twitter. Perhaps one day I will. Enjoy the lunch....
