Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

QF 2 SIN - SYD Y> J confirmed at T-60 (WP).

Would've been shocked if I didn't get it with J9+ open.

4th time trying to fly the a380 in J this year. Lets hope I get on board this time (every other time has failed with delays or cancellations).
Enjoy! I prefer the 388 in J to the 332/333/789. Everything* feels more special on a jumbo!

Cheers,
Matt.

*when they fly; and the fridges are working 😜

WP, QF1 SYD-LHR, W (flex PE) > J - no luck

F1 J1 for the week leading up.

Asked at the F lounge, was told the request hadn't been rejected yet so I still had a chance. Flight then went J0 W1 at T-2, so I guess it went to someone else booked in PE.

Not sure if it's possible to still receive an upgrade on the SIN-LHR leg (currently F1 J2) but I will ask at SIN F.

And wonder if that PE pax was a WP or any status.
The great unknown.

Stuck on a faulty plane while trying to get to another faulty plane?
The 787 was the QF10 LHR-PER that had a medical emergency landing at BLR and crew was going to time out so they went to SIN instead and I don't think they keep spare 787 pilots around at SIN.

Just following up to say that I didn't get an upgrade on this leg either.

I think it may have gone to a P1 (had the new brown leather bag tag) who was sitting in PE bulkhead for SYD-SIN but then disappeared for SIN-LHR until I saw him again at baggage claim in London.

Coming home this Saturday so P1 upgrades should've been processed by now, once again in flex PE. Loads are F1 A0 J2 C0 D0 I0 W4 R1 T0. Not holding my breath...

Newbie here. Flying QF1 Friday 13 Sept SIN-LHR (lucky or unlucky?!) and requested Y to J upgrade for 2 (Gold) months ago. How do I check current J seat availability for my chances? Have also requested return on 4/10 LHR to SIN. Fingers and toes crossed!

There is a thread for such requests, but I've looked it up and J is totally full and W1 in PE, so no chance I'm afraid. This is super full in all classes tbh

Guess unlucky for you. Sorry

PS expertflyer is the usual source.

Flying 11 September on QF12 LAX to SYD PE, Bronze. Put in my classic upgrade request about 4 weeks ago. Expert Flyer is saying minimum 9 J seats available. I am hopeful!
A question: Would a Bronze in Y+ be prioritised for an upgrade to J over a Gold in Y?
Also, thanks to this place, I learned about the T-80 rule, and managed to snag 31A in PE for my flight, so even if I don't get the upgrade, at least I have a good seat in PE! ☺️

Thanks for the info and checking - what a bummer. Friday night to London was probably always going to be a tough ask! Fingers crossed for the way back.

What’s the T-80 rule? Sorry - newbie here! Still getting my head around the terms.

If you are a bronze FF, 80 hours before your flight time, they open the entire seating chart up to the rest of us to choose. So get in as soon as you can once it hits, so you can get a good seat if still available!
