Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

2 person success Y-J on QF10 (LHR-DXB) 23-Dec-2015 at T-28 for Gold. Was 3-4 J seats left after my upgrade, only 1 person in F before and after.

Good start to the return leg of our Honeymoon, sadly DXB-PER is EK and thus no chance to upgrade. Most annoying.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

I've had 2 international flights in December, SYD -> BKK return and MEL->AKL return with no luck on either for points upgrades on return flights.
Return fares are always flex as per company booking policy and I'm QFF WP 4th year in a row. Not feeling the upgrade love this year.

What was your Y fare?

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

J to F on QF2 LHR-DXB came through at T-28 as PS. Super excited to sample first finally. That's 100% success rate so far as PS (only 2/2 but still ...)

Too bad onwards flight is an EK codeshare to BNE. Miracles might happen on New Year's Eve though and hoping against hope for an op up to fly F all the way.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

31DEC QF1504 HBA-MEL Flex Y -> J success x 2pax.

Short flight but part of a multi-leg trip, and it's only 5000 FFP. Hoping to get a bump on my connecting MEL-SYD A330 flight also (QF438) but don't like my chances given it's NYE!

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

What a way to start the year. Wasn't hopeful considering it has been showing J1 for a while and my request was for two people but Y is clearly heavily oversold (though they were still selling the Y fare bucket when I last checked)

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Put in an upgrade for an NB family member AKL-MEL and MEL-LHR. Both Y-J and they both cleared at T-28. Very surprised as AKL-MEL was only showing J2 and MEL-LHR as J1!

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

The 100% success rate, rather surprisingly, continues. 2x Y-J on QF52 last night. I really had no expectation of that coming through. It was at the old redemption rates too :).

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Y-J on QF25 SYD to HND T-72hrs
Y-J on QF62 NRT to BNE T-72hrs
Y-J on QF513 NRT to BNE T-24hrs

All on Y Flex

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Just got my laptop back.
Checked my QF663 flight, for 12Jun and under Classic Flight Reward, it says no seats.
Ah well, I will try my luck at the QP/J lounge desk and see what happens.
Learning more, and having to keep on the ball.
Thanks again Steady and 2tallforY.
O saw yours too, Lathiat. ((Paws crossed)).

I posted the direct link, not the one serfty posted as I had it saved

Ta both.
Steady, did thought about that link.
Thought the nsne was from the wings.
Will chase it up now.
OT Android phone is nice but a laptop is better.

you don't need EF - just check on the Qantas website (or app on your phone) if a 'Classic Flight Reward' in business class is available on the relevant flight.

AP, try this free tool serfty posted on another thread

Ta.
Was only looking at revenue business.
I dont have an EF account and I have borrowed my laptop to soneone.
Hard to check U availability on Android phone.

With Domestic flights the upgrade to J is instant if a U classic award is available

Though it pops up a message saying no upgrades available right now, click OK to register.. I've never actually seen an instant upgrade available.
So you have to wait and T-24 hours or sometimes a couple hours earlier they will *SMS* you the result (no e-mail) - you can also check on the website and the type will eventually change sometimes a little before the SMS.

So, for a dom pax BNE - ADL, whats the chances.
I did my first request today, for SA Queens birthday long weekend trip, and thought that it would come through straight away, ie, points reduced from my QP account, (Qantas Points, as they seem to call themselves now) account, and I would have that subclass of J seat.
But nope, turns out, its still a waiting game for QF Au dom flgihts as well.
They are still selling subclass of J tickets, so the spot must be there.
Will put my success or failure info on here when I find out.

All this discussion should be in another thread folks. This thread is posting successful upgrades only.

Mr Orange is quite correct. This thread is dedicated to actual upgrade successes (or failures).

For those that want to discuss upgrade likelihood, please post in this thread (I have transferred all the previous posts to it from late December 2016): http://www.australianfrequentflyer....cess-discussion-thread-80897.html#post1582822.

Have also slightly changed the OP's thread title to better explain reason behind thread.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

FF Level: SG
Fare basis: I
Travel: Nov/Dec

QF9 MEL-DXB J--> F
QF10 LHR-DXB-MEL J-->F

Other point of note: QF9 upgrade to F "stuck" when transferred 3hrs before scheduled from QF9 (2325hrs) to EK407 (2230hrs) due to seat/IFE malfunction on inbound QF10.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

QF 128 : HKG->SYD : 30/01/2017

WP, failed to get 4 Y->J, T-36 still 6 seats available.... T-12 only 2.... D'oh

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Upgrade from Y>J for QF81 SYD-SIN on Wednesday confirmed by the upgrade fairy at T-60. Now at 93% for upgrades as WP.

The loading on this one went full circle, and has reminded me not to lose hope so easily! With loads of availability down to the 'I' bucket a few weeks ago, this one got as tight as J2 C1 D0 I0 and so I figured it was all over... but then a group must have cancelled or something, as it ended up back at J6 C5 D2 I1 yesterday (and no aircraft change!). This is the farthest out that I've been confirmed for this route. I usually only get T-60 on U.S. upgrades.

Cheers,
Matt.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Upgrade from Y Flex to J, QF11 on 10FEB right on T-48 as a WP.

Expected to come through with F5 and J9 - waiting for an emerald city window seat to become free hopefully as gold and below are processed into F. :)
