Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

QF503 3/9 Y to J classic upgrade after booking with 7 days to go, confirmed straight away (A332 - beauty)
QF605 13/9 Y to J classic upgrade after booking with 2 weeks to go, confirmed straight away (B738)
QF636 14/9 Y to J classic upgrade after booking with 2 weeks to go, confirmed straight away (B738)

Wish I flew somewhere internationally...

Have been very lucky thus far with a limited int requests as 3:3 including QF9/10.

No other successful upgrade requests on QF9 MEL-LHR? Not hopeful with breaking the dry spell before my flight on Friday with the AFL preliminary final on in PER then...

QF11 Sydney to LAX (SilverFF) - Fail
Interestingly enough, there are still seats on EF showing in business class.
Last chance is at the airport I guess

Haven't flown on 9/10 since the route change, by accounts it's become tougher to get the upgrade fairies SMS :(

With the prolific availability of cheap sale fares on QF9/10 in Y, I haven't been able to justify paying nearly twice as much for the same seat on the off chance that an upgrade might be forthcoming.
EF has shown pretty much full cabins on each QF9 I've been on.

Boarding QF9 soon and no luck for MEL-PER. My heart skipped a beat when there were two earlier pages in the lounge but it wasn't for me so they must have pipped me to it... Fingers crossed for PER-LHR!

Failed to get upgrade Flex Y to J - QF 1 22/9 as WP
Mind you, a few days out EF was showing F1 A0 J0 C0 D0 I0 W0 R0 T0 Y9 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0 so I knew my chances were slim

But, I didn't even get the text message to let me down - so I was hoping against hope up until I checked in at Canberra. Maybe they'll do it at the gate in Sydney :)
Edit: No it didn't happen. Back in my old friend 33G

Epic failure, not even Premium Economy! Wonder if it made any difference that my upgrade request was for MEL-LHR compared to others who had booked PER-LHR?

Is the option still there to tick if upgrade not available all the way to check individual segments? This used to be the case a few years ago but not sure if still an option.

No such option, but there is a note on the website which seems to address the same scenario for QF9 MEL-PER-LHR:
For upgrades at the airport, if you are travelling continuously on a flight that stops in one or more ports (with the same flight number), you will only be eligible for an upgrade on the last leg and only if that last leg has a flying time longer than three hours. Points will only be deducted for the portion of your flight that was upgraded.

Had my first knock-back for a requested upgrade since Feb 2016, last night. The very full QF82 from SIN-SYD was J0 for a few days out, but staff at the lounge did note I was still waitlisted, prior to departure. I prayed for the beep at the gate, whilst enjoying the Emirates Lounge, but alas it was not meant to be. A great run while it lasted!

Cheers,
Matt.

Cheap Y -> J granted 2 days out for QF117 SYD-HKG. Requested as plat several months ago.

The most welcome upgrade ever. 2 days prior I developed a pinched nerve in lower back, radiating ache down left leg after extended periods of sitting. Ability to lie down on the flight was a God-send.
