Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

1/2 on my current trip. Didn't get SYD-LAX J-F (not surprised as F chockers). Just noticed my points balance is a little lighter and I have gotten DFW-SYD :D
3A a new seat for me !!!

No Upgrade Fairy text?

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Actually just realized it's not the Fairy's fault as I have my US sim in my iPhone - I guess telepathy isn't one of her talents

I'm hoping for an upgrade next month and remembered you posting a screenshot probably a couple of years ago now  , so was hoping to be able to emulate! There's still hope then. :p

I'll pop my Telstra sim back in when I get to the Hotel and hopefully update :)

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Off to coughet next week. I have a couple of requests in for Ms Chooms and I.

We have three QF flights that are upgradable and I have put in requests from Y->J for each of them.

BNE-SYD: Confirmed upgrade. 2/6 so far.

SYD-SIN: I am not super confident with this one, however today's EF check has seen an improvement. The J bucket had been fluctuating between J0 and J3 for a few days now, but is currently showing: Screen Shot 2015-06-22 at 10.22.50 am.pngAs a WP who put in the request a good 4 months ago, I am feeling a bit better about this one today. We'll see how it goes at T-48.

Edit: looking even better now Screen Shot 2015-06-22 at 4.14.01 pm.png

SIN-BNE: This one is looking OK. EF this morning: Screen Shot 2015-06-22 at 10.20.37 am.png

6/6 in the end.

2x upgrades Y->J (Mrs Chooms and myself):

QF501 BNE-SYD
QF81 SYD-SIN (old A333 J)
QF52 SIN-BNE (new A333 J)

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Master FM's partner was successful in getting a Y to J upgrade on QF17 (SYD-LAX) today. Request in for QF12 in 2 weeks time. She was gold, but I think has slipped back to silver.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

And yes her upgrade Y to J on Qf12 for tomorrow has been successful as well .... Mid week does seem easier

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

2 from 2 for 2 pax on BNE-ADL and rtn. Both requests were initially waitlisted but came through in plenty of time.

I'm still running at 100% which I'm pretty chuffed about.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

0 from 2 upgrade requests on QF1 & QF2 recently made six weeks out. There wasn't a spare seat to be had in the premium cabins and Y was at least 98% full both ways. The best I could do was being offered an exit row seat from DXB-LHR. Couldn't even purchase one on the way back. QF must have got got their act together with revenue management.

However, I did get 4 x upgrades to J SYD-LAX in January for the family trip to the states.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Nice one! I have requested 4 PR->J on QF1 and QF2 later this year and your post gives me a tiny bit of hope :-) On a similar topic, does a PE upgrade for a WP take precedence over a WP1 from Y? or even another WP in Y?

I am prepared to be corrected but I believe it is a combination of status, booking class of the original fare and the order in which requests are received. My understanding is flex fare beats saver, WP beats SG then the order in which the request is lodged comes into it. However, the wild card in recent times is the introduction of the upgrades you bid for, it would make sense to slot those in over a classic upgrade request as more $$$ to Qantas. I have no idea what weighting QF applies and how it works when say a SG on a flex is competing with a WP on a saver fare for the same cabin

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Successful with an at the gate upgrade from Y to PE on last night's QF94 LAX-MEL. I'd put in for J with the option of PE if available. Thought J had come through as I checked my Y seat selection just before T-24 to see if any better seats were available and it gave me a J seat map to choose from. When I tried to save a selection it came up with an error and was the Y seat map when I tried again. Obviously a system glitch but I got all excited for a minute.

Still 100% (from memory) success rate for upgrades. 4 from 4 I think and most of them whilst PS. Now SG.
