SYD-LAX (QF11) 11th Dec, 2x successful PE TO J upgrades confirmed 24hrs before flight departure.

Flight 3JAN JFK - SYD (QF4)
Requested upgrade from Y to J for 2 passengers (Both Bronze)
Anyone know what the chances of success might be?

Thanks !
Now 7 days out of our flight QF4 out of JFK on 3rd Jan.

Can anyone help with potential of an upgrade?

Reasonable chance I’d say:

QF 4
JFK 03/01/25 5:15 PM
SYD 05/01/25 8:20 AM
789 Su,M,W,Th,F,Sa
J9 C9 D0 I0 U0 W9 R9 T9 Z0 Y9 B9 H9K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O0 G0 X0 E0

I am wondering......

When I did a dummy booking for QF7 on Jan 5th, there were no J or PE seats available to buy. However, when booking Y, my reserved seat was available to select. That whole set of three seats wat. I am therefore wondering if classic rewards upgrades have actually already been allocated but not advised to clients? I will post here when I know for sure. Nevertheless, I am not counting my chickens.
No.

Upgrades do not happen until 6-7 days out for WP1, under 72h for P and under 24h for the rest.

Your flight is actually full. As for seats I'd suggest you just check that your own seats are actually properly selected.

In this case your odds of an upgrade are effectively 0. It'd need a whole bunch of no-shows and you being at the top of the list for there even to be a remote chance.

QF35 MEL to SIN on 31 December 2024, Y Sale —> J successful at T - 35 hours as Platinum.
I didn’t know upgrading from sale fares could be done! I always buy at least saver - had there been a change?

Also its currently about T-52 for QF35 on the 31st, not sure your math adds up there with the T-35. :p

lol - did I miss out a whole day of vacation. 😂😂😂

The story behind this one is: I was originally booked on QF1 as saver fare and there were other ppl on that booking too. I had to split the booking and then fly indirect via Melbourne much earlier (31 Dec rather than Jan). So, I did this change via Hobart, and was booked into a sale fare but the lovely guy from Hobart - once he understood the reason for this rebooking - could probably do an override to put an upgrade request in for me?

Well anyway, it came through last night and I am very happy!
