Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

Failure:

QF1293 MEL-HBA 20/03/25 Y (bucket unknown) to J confirmed at T-2; QF Plat/LT Gold ("Sir" Bob Geldorf, who was on the flight, displaced me 🤣).

This wasn't such a disaster. The aeroplane was one of the new A220-300's used by Qantaslink, and my first flight on this aircraft. It was all shiny new and we were on the right in the 2 seat pair. The seats were comfy and really well-appointed with USB charging points, universal power points and portable device stands all thoughtfully placed.

Success:

QF1292 HBA-MEL 25/03/25 Y (bucket unknown) to J confirmed at T-48; QF Plat/LT Gold

Also a new A220-300. Nice forward cabin and very good service.

Are you saying "Sir" Bob didn't know who you were???

Love A220s - Bombardier did a great job!

Success @ T-27 as a WP Y+>J on QF21 MEL-DFW tomorrow

Interestingly MEL-LAX has a lot more availability. My WP colleague was notified of success at T-60. Maybe people like the later departure time or central location of DFW
And now success Y+ > J on the return at T-60 on QF12. LAX-SYD chosen for the A380 to maximise chance of success.

Another success as a lowly bronze; adl -> per, qf891, economy flex to business.

If my employer wont book me straight into business it's definitely a silver lining to let me book flex, as it seems like it helps quite a lot with upgrades. I am guessing this is because people don't book domestic flex economy as it's a ripoff. FWIW the ticket cost was also ridiculous due to my booking being the day before. Anyway, will be gold in a month so hopefully I start getting a lot more of these upgrades through.

Success here

QF38 SIN to MEL Y>J on 28/3 . Received a messaged around T-10ish hours saying that it could not be confirmed but if any changes will be informed. Came to terms that I would be spending a long sleepless night in whY. Checked the app at around 3ish hours before departure to notice the seat had changed to 7E. Was very happy.
