("Sir" Bob Geldorf, who was on the flight, displaced me)
Love A220s - Bombardier did a great job!Failure:
QF1293 MEL-HBA 20/03/25 Y (bucket unknown) to J confirmed at T-2; QF Plat/LT Gold ("Sir" Bob Geldorf, who was on the flight, displaced me).
This wasn't such a disaster. The aeroplane was one of the new A220-300's used by Qantaslink, and my first flight on this aircraft. It was all shiny new and we were on the right in the 2 seat pair. The seats were comfy and really well-appointed with USB charging points, universal power points and portable device stands all thoughtfully placed.
Success:
QF1292 HBA-MEL 25/03/25 Y (bucket unknown) to J confirmed at T-48; QF Plat/LT Gold
Also a new A220-300. Nice forward cabin and very good service.
And now success Y+ > J on the return at T-60 on QF12. LAX-SYD chosen for the A380 to maximise chance of success.Success @ T-27 as a WP Y+>J on QF21 MEL-DFW tomorrow
Interestingly MEL-LAX has a lot more availability. My WP colleague was notified of success at T-60. Maybe people like the later departure time or central location of DFW
QF448 on 02/04/25 MEL-SYD on A330, Discount Y —> J Success at T-27.5 (Bronze w QC via Points Club Plus)I'm on QF448 at 1:40pm on Wednesday 2 April 2025 and just trying to gauge the chances of an upgrade. Could anyone grab the loading for me?
Anyone able to shed some light on why there would be 2 x wide bodies going from MEL to SYD in the middle of the day on that Wednesday (the other being QF440 at noon)?

Welcome to AFF… Looking for Syd LAX in F ...
Postscript to this one at checkin this morning: “oh, there’s a note on my screen…” <waves for supervisor to come over>.Success at T-27 Y > J as mere bronze for tomorrow's QF79 MEL-NRT. Had very low expectations of this clearing given my (lack of) status so very happy to wake up to the text this morning.
