Qantas Wine latest offering

https://www.qantasepiqure.com.au/c/Share-With-Love/p/MIXVALPTSNV

7500 bonus points for a mixed case of 12 for $300. Best bonus point offer in quite some time!

This one is interesting... got the same offer, good wines, good value and 7,500 bonus points + 1 point per $1 spent. The 1 point per $1 spent is a bit unusual in my experience. Took the offer :)

Five minutes later Mrs Paddy got a different offer for the same wine! This time $70 off ($235) plus 3 points per $1 spent!

Setting aside the points I get for paying with my Amex :) I seem to be paying $0.04 per point in the 1st offer... and $0.33 per point in the 2nd.

Seems I'm being given the wine while paying $0.04 per point

Now that is interesting. I just checked my emails and see I also got the "$70 Discount on our 'Share the love' Mixed Pack" email (so $234.88 per dozen, or $19.57 per bottle) - but I still get 3x $ spent (not 1x like Paddy55's first offer above).

Hmmm, but if one uses the link in Mr_Orange's post, my account can access that offer as well, as it comes up with $299.99 and:

So they are testing the price points for some and offering bonus points to others. Perhaps the former to "regular" purchases and the latter for infrequent purchases. I'd love to be a fly on the wall.

So do I want to pay $235 (and only get 705 base points), or pay $299.99 and get 8,400. That's an interesting valuation.

To really muddy the waters, I can get 2 cases (one at each offer) in the one cart order. Be signed in and select the first, then click the link for the second and it will eventually update your cart:

If you were buying points from QF to top up when redeeming for an award you would pay $260 for 7,500 points.

This is much the same except QF are throwing in a case of wine for free :):)

Finally a decent bonus points offer but I'm not impressed by the whites/rose in the mixed pack so it's a pass for me.

I ended up buying the case including points - my clients will love them. Still got my usual 3x points, so don't know if this is a mistake - guess Ill find out tomorrow or Saturday

I love it when the mistake is in our favour. When I did the original quote upthread (Post #2282) I didn't proceed at that point with any purchase. When I logged back in last night, the landing page specifically states "1 point per $" on the RHS. Yet, as we have all found, at checkout it changes back to the 3 pts/$. Looks like the IT people did the first part of the change, but forgot to do it at the pointy end. So I took a screenshot of the page - merely for posterity of course ;).

Confirmation email shows "Qantas points earned: 8,400", so I'm happy that I have all the proof that I need, should they award only 7,800 points.

Not bad at all - good pick up boomy. But still disappointing to see:

 • Qantas epiQure Members earn 1 points per $1 when paying with a credit card
and when I added it to my cart and looked at the points earned section, it clearly showed 235 points earned (I forgot to screen shot it)

However, YMMV when you get to the check-out page :D (as is my experience) as the purchase page (and order summary page) showed this:

Qantas points summary for this transaction:

Base Points
705

0

Earn Total Points
705

Then when I just closed out and went in again using the landing page again, the same section now shows:
Qantas epiQure Members earn 3 points per $1 when paying with a credit card

This is a fascinating error :D. Regardless I bought a case ;)

So it happened yesterday. I ordered some 2012 Cullen Cab Sauv from Epiqure. Aus Post attempted to deliver to my office about 4:30pm yesterday (Perth). Perth has been rather hot and humid for the last few days and the box was very hot. I asked the driver and she said it had been in the van few at least two hours. Just told her I'm not signing for this and to return it.

Epiqure were closed yesterday so called this morning. No problem with the wine being returned and they will either refund the money or send out a replacement. Seems fair enough. My concern raised was this though. What happens to that wine? How do I know they won't just resend it to me...or sell it to someone else? How do I know any wine I buy hasn't been returned for the same reason? The lady on the phone while helpful didn't have answers. Can't say this fills me with confidence about the products I now receive from Epiqure.

</grumble>

How do you know that the wine at Dan Murphy's hasn't been out in the same heat? Not really fair just to say Epicure only ones suffering from this.
We had similar problem before with a carton of St Henri purchased from Grays. Full refund given even though we cracked first bottle after 30 day guarantee period.
It's the follow service when things happen that are important.

That's one of the big issues about buying wine with delivery. Then again, some of the wine distributors (like BWS, Cellarbrations, Thirsty Camel) don't instil me with any more confidence as their distribution techniques aren't that dissimilar.

Give me a cellar door any day.

Short answer is I don't.

This was a simple case of it was obvious the wine was very hot and confirmed to me it had been like that for several hours. I'd be an idiot to accept that. I wasn't claiming Epiqure are the only ones with this issue either. However, other places simply won't ship in hot weather or ensure better handling of their wines.

Just had another attempted delivery (different wine from a different order). Same driver, same issue. Wine sent back. Sigh.

Its pretty obvious to the operator on the phone that putting wine in a van without air-conditioning in summer is a bad idea. Pity this doesn't occur to anyone else.

The 3 points per dollar and 7500 bonus have hit my account, so 8400 all up.
