Qantas Wine latest offering

Just had another attempted delivery (different wine from a different order). Same driver, same issue. Wine sent back. Sigh.

Its pretty obvious to the operator on the phone that putting wine in a van without air-conditioning in summer is a bad idea. Pity this doesn't occur to anyone else.

In a follow up to this. Had a call from Epiqure this morning to tell me that they won't keep sending out wine if I keep refusing it because its delivered hot. At the same time I've had confirmation from Australia Post that none of the delivery vans are air-conditioned. Epiqure are adamant that they have no control over how the wine is delivered. I pointed out that other companies can do a better job so there are other options. I also pointed out that if you were ordering fruit and veg and it was delivered like this that you wouldn't accept it, so why is it ok to ruin wine and expect people to accept it.

In short, the manager I spoke to is going to pass this up to the chain and get back to me. Unless something is done, my days for ordering from Epiqure in warmer months are over.

Also surprised to hear that AusPost don't care about the wine they deliver either. There only policy appears to be not to leave it in direct sun.

Except they will quite happily leave it on my doorstep in full sun and visible to everyone walking past.

Slightly OT but a big thanks to my old man for achieving his 4 dozen over the last 6 months for a total points transfer of 38k to my account. Not a bad points haul with a few great bonuses thrown in!

Aren't parents FF accounts great!

;)

Just had a look at the Sips and Sliders event in Adelaide. $75 for 'tastings' and mini burgers. The description isn't really clear on what is being included in the price. And it's being held in... Edwardstown?! Who organises these things? Clearly not people who have ever lived in Adelaide. Will be interesting to see if they get enough numbers to run it.

Meanwhile, I'm glad my Epiqure m'ship has been competed for the last few years, because I'd be pretty peeved if I was paying for it. Where is the value in being able to access just a very small handful of events per year, a couple of articles with a recipe or two and around 6 'members exclusive' wines (almost the entire Epiqure catalogue is now available for purchase by the general FF pop)!?

I have been meaning to have a look at this event as the last one in ADL was fantastic.
If as you say it is being held in Edwardstown, I won't bother.

Read your various posts on this (thanks) and its an interesting issue. Many wineries won't despatch from cellar door when its hot (mine are all in the Barossa) but of course have no control over what happens after that. I'm in Tasmania, so heat unlikely to be an issue, but of course it takes about a week to get here and Lord knows what happens in between :( . I have asked for despatch from a cellar door to be delayed up to a month if there's a hot spell on, but I appreciate you are talking mainly about Epiqure.

Australia Post in my experience blatantly ignore any stickers 'this way up' and the like. I have noted this to the wineries, but I guess the rates (especially when they pay) over-ride a few concerns expressed to them.

Yep, definitely being held in Edwardstown. The venue is located on a busy main arterial road, hard to get to from the CBD (this is Adelaide after all, and public transport is sub-standard) and isolated from any kinds of eat street or shopping strip. I laughed when I read the description "Our Adelaide event is being hosted at TEN22, a gorgeous-meets-grunge space in the inner south." For the Sydney-centric Qantas Epiqure events planning staff, or RedRoo, if you're reading, I'd compare it to holding the Sydney event in North Ryde or Homebush.

Good to hear you found last year's event good (I haven't been to an Adelaide one as yet, having recently moved back from Melbourne, where I was fortunate enough to attend the wine fairs and a few dinners).

I had similar thoughts about the Perth event. Vague on what it was and being held in Fremantle.

Can anyone advise if the Torbreck 2009 RunRig has a natural or synthetic cork?

My Les Amis 2010's have a natural cork (similar price point), which would suggest others would do also - but that's just speculation!

Ok don't make us search it out, what has changed?

Buggered if I know... I ordered my first dozen from epiqure today and was looking to see if I was going to get any bonus points as I recalled mention of receiving points after buying the first dozen up thread but I couldn't find any mention on their site. While looking I noticed the T&C's were dated the 05-02-2015
