Qantas Wine latest offering

I read todays offer (IIRC, it was Cab Sauv @ $239+ per case with 5K bonus points). Still no room under the desk...
Mine was the Catalina Sounds w/- 5000 points (or is it the other way round). I'm still showing as "Premium Member".

haven't paid to join either, but have now finished the previous year, and I haven't seen any promo code that could enable us to join for free ... if anybody knows of some, do tell ...

any recommendation from better wine expert than myself in the first couple of pages of Epiqure's end of year clearance sale?

I picked up https://www.qantasepiqure.com.au/p/Tahbilk-1927-Vines-Marsanne-2007/TAH1927MA07_C I'd been on the lookout from some anyway and the 5000 bonus points didn't hurt. Price was pretty much what I'd expect to pay. Was also keen on the 2013 Brokenwood Semillon, but between adding it to my cart last week and checking out 5 minutes later, it had sold out. Price was excellent value on that one.

Well that was a massive fail. Its 42C in Perth today. They delivered my wine roughly at 4pm to my office. The box was extremely hot to the touch. Driver confirmed the wine had been driven around all day in the van like that. Refused to sign. Let's see what epiQure have to say tomorrow about this.

Honestly, if you are going to deliver on a hot day, do it first thing in the morning! Wine is perishable food. They wouldn't deliver any other food this way, why do they think its acceptable to treat wine like this?

United Cellars in Sydney state that they will not send wine out if temperatures will be elevated.
[h=1]"Delivery - Heatwave[/h]
At United Cellars, we'll never deliver your wines when the temperatures on the delivery journey exceed the limit for safe transport of wine. We'll send you your order as soon as we can, once the weather cools again and notify you via email if your wine delivery is delayed.

We use the Bureau of Meteorology website for up to date climate information, Australia-wide.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during heat waves.

Have added the same Tahblik to my wine fridge for my wife and pocketed 5K points in the process

Following up on the hot wine issue. I spoke to epiQure last week. They could see the wine was on the way back. Lots of I don't knows etc. Said I could either have the money refunded or they can resend the wine. I opted for the latter. Just received a call from a lady who clearly didn't want to be talking to me. She tells me she has received an email from her supervisor to inform me that they will refund the money. I told her from the conversation last week, I'd like the wine, not the money.

She told me that they can't guarantee the same thing won't happen again as they have no control over the weather. I did explain that they do have control over how and when they deliver the wine. She re-affirmed that she is only talking to me because her supervisor sent an email, blah blah blah.

Such poor customer service.

If that's how their customer service operates, very trashy. If I order from them again, it looks like it will have to be during winter.

Oh carp, that doesn't bode well for my case of Chenin Blanc that is on its way.

Can't find on their site how they store their wine, so your assumption is probably correct.

I suspect the people on the phone don't know either. Last week the person I was chatting too, couldn't tell me how the wine is even transported. He assumed by road, but couldn't confirm in refrigerated reefers.

Isn't this all handled by Australia Post? I doubt the average employee at Epiqure (or equivalents like DM, 1st Choice etc.) have any idea how that all works once it's left their warehouse and disappeared into their courier's system. You'd need to speak to specialist wine merchants to find anyone who cares about how the wine's transported.
