Qantas Wine latest offering

I rarely buy from epiqure and just wanted to check that I wasn't missing out on any opportunities to save some extra money when making a purchase.

Is there anything like a WISH card or cashreward that you can use for epiqure purchases to increase the savings?

And how are epiqure deliveries currently being shipped? By AusPost or courier?

Delivered by Auspost.

No CR etc. Main benefit is getting lumps of QFF points. Sometimes they have decently priced stuff (usually mixed packs), plus QF exclusives (e.g. 4 Pillars gin, Seppelt stuff).

In any case, I don’t think it’s the type of stuff you usually buy.

I really try to avoid buying wine during the warmer months for this exact reason.

Last lot I bought, the winemaker wouldn't send it until the weather cooled down a bit. Then of course the delivery guy stacked in front of the garage door in the sun, and not at the front door under the verandah. If he bothered to come to the front door, I would have answered the knock as I was home, 4 dozen bottles, not happy Jan.

It wasn't Auspost.

+1 Though quite a few retailers have heat or hot weather policies and will delay dispatching orders upon request - unfortunately epiQure is not one of them :(

Not currently, though there have been 30% off vouchers and 20% off codes previously

I asked Epiqure to delay sending in an order just before Christmas as we were going away. The operator said it would be dispatched on 2nd January. It arrived sometime before 29th Dec while we were away.

Well I let my premium membership lapse last year but just received a phone call from someone at Epiqure with an "exclusive offer for Qantas Gold frequent flyers". The offer was a mixed red dozen case for $285 (apparently a saving of $40) and 8,000 points. The lady read out the list of wines in the case and they did sound decent. She said the offer is only available over the phone until Friday.

Anyone else had a phone call from Epiqure?

Nothing here. It is well over 12 months since I lost my premium membership and even longer since I bought anything. I am SG though.

I got a call just before Christmas offering wines that were not listed on their website

So did I. After the lady laboriously read out the long list of wines in the first pack, I asked her to just email me the offerings. Never got the email. Didn't think the mixed pack was that enticing either, but it's pretty hard to work those things out on-the-fly whilst someone's reading them out to you.

Any thoughts on today’s offering:
“d’Arry's Original Shiraz Grenache 2014 ... for $16.50 per bottle [with] ... free delivery and 6,000 bonus points”?
Good value, or no?
Poor value in my view. $12 a bottle closer to the mark. But wine generally good.

Decided to take the plunge on buying a dozen of this Shiraz Grenache. 6000 points bonus plus 840 points from Epiqure and credit card. Giving a value of 1 cent a point to the QF points brings the effective price down to $10.83. Seems ok price for an everyday drink, and reasonable value by Dr Ralph's criteria.

Thanks Ric & Dr Ralph. Given the arithmetic, it doesn’t seem like a huge risk. There’s still a fair bit of BBQ Season to go after all... I’ll plunge in too.
