Qantas Wine latest offering

Side note, I usually get a discount through chat, today was offered either a discount OR extra bonus points instead

Small success. I was after a case of the Heirloom for $359.60 with 15,000 points. Didn’t offer a discount but did offer an extra 3000 points. Also offered another red for $120 for a 6 pack ($240 on the website) and an extra 1000 points. Better than nothing, and I’m always happy with an extra everyday wine.

unless on clearance again somewhere or there's another AmEx offer, 10% off via Points Club Plus is possibly the cheapest currently for these - list prices:
  • Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 2016 $225
  • Henschke Hill of Roses Shiraz 2016 $415
  • Henschke Hill of Grace Shiraz 2016 $890

also

  • Jericho McLaren Vale Shiraz 2016 CM(WF)93 6pk + 5000pts = $174/$29
  • Jericho McLaren Vale S3 Shiraz 2018 CM(WF)93, NB91 12pk $20

I know it might be considered bad value and a poor use of points, however with the recent Points Club Plus announcement of extra benefits - in particular the 2x $50 birthday vouchers, has anyone ever used a voucher + points to make a purchase?

Given the way things are, it probably wouldn't hurt to use some for a small purchase without using any cash.

And perhaps a toaster?

Wonder if this can be combined with 10% for Points Club Plus members. In the past I've been told the extra bonus points can't be applied on top of the 10% off.

Likewise, realistically its just 15% value back in points.

but has conditions of:
Cash purchases only and excludes: Penfolds, Pepperjack, Standish, Spirits, Food, Beer/Cider, Sparkling/Champagne, mini-bottles and Wine Subscriptions

Hmmm so for a Points Club Plus member, you'd essentially be paying $200 for 30,000 points .... a good deal, but I don't really need $2k of wine. 🤣

Points club plus email: For six days only, receive 15,000 Qantas Points off when you spend 40,000 points or more with Qantas Wine.* Shop from a range of quality wine, champagne, spirits and gourmet food (excludes Penfolds). To take advantage of this member’s-only offer, simply use the voucher code below at checkout by 30 June 2021.

edit:does not stack with 10% off, this part of the email is a bit misleading: Enjoy a voucher from Qantas Wine* and free delivery from the Rewards Store< on top of your usual 10% discount.

Points club (not plus) got this offer:
For six days only, receive 10,000 Qantas Points off when you spend 25,000 points or more with Qantas Wine.* Shop from a range of quality wine, champagne, spirits and gourmet food (excludes Penfolds)

Agree, misleading.

The first part says this:
As a valued Points Club Plus member, we’re delighted to bring you two exclusive offers. Enjoy a voucher from Qantas Wine* and free delivery from the Rewards Store< on top of your usual 10% discount. Whether it’s a bottle of Champagne or a new pair of headphones, we’re sure you’ll discover something to enjoy using Qantas Points, no matter the indulgence you’re after.

The bottom part says this:

* Offer ends 11:59pm (AEST) 30 June 2021 unless sold out prior. Points Club Plus members will receive 15,000 points off discount on any 40,000 points minimum spend purchase, excluding Penfolds. You must have a valid email address and be opted in to receive this voucher. Voucher will only be valid from 25 June 2021 to 30 June 2021. Only one unique voucher code can be used per transaction, and cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion. Each voucher can only be used once.
< Free delivery available within Australia for Points Club Plus members only from 12:00am (AEST) 25 June 2021 to 11:59pm (AEST) 30 June 2021 subject to availability. The offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. Exclusions apply. Qantas may extend or withdraw these offers at any time. Conditions apply.

It makes it sound like the free delivery for PCP members is a bonus offer until the end of the month, however free delivery is a standard benefit of both point club (normal) and PCP:

Misleading as the image showing "An exclusive voucher just for you ..." on the email says "10% discount for Points Club Plus not valid with this promotional offer*" near the bottom

But I decided to bite, with the current 20% points off, I found some nice wine for about the 40K mark and 8K bonus so
41760 - 15K - 8K - 461 (3x premium member off from price with voucher discount applied) = 18299 points used all up. Original points needed would have been 52200.
