Qantas Wine latest offering

"Your annual Qantas epiQure membership has recently come to an end. However, because you have made an eligible purchase with us within your previous membership year, we've extended your membership for another year."

I received this in an email this morning. It's not often I've had the opportunity to say this recently but "Thanks Qantas".

Hmmm, discussed with my Dad over the weekend - now he wants St Henri 2010. Nowhere to be found (I note that FirstChoice were selling it at $83 bottle, yet BSW was $73 [both out of stock]). Thought I'd be a good son and let him have 3 bottles of mine and we'd get a Bin 389 and share it as well. Thought to try and join him to EpiQure and FREEJOIN not working :(

Coupon Number FREEJOIN Not Valid

Anyone with other join codes? If not, then I'll just have to put it to my account (I'll sweep the points across anyway)

Edit: (10.30am) GIFT59AW still working for $59 :D. Gift of Tattinger Champagne will do nicely for Dad's upcoming birthday celebration and pay for the joining fee

Eeek, for some reason he hasn't get the bonus 2K points on the Bin 389 :( Got to follow that up....

I received the same. Would be nice if I could get the first and fourth dozen bonuses again :)

Now the plot thickens. EpiQure have just rung my Dad to say that the Bin 389 2010 is now "out of stock" and they can't supply it - well it wasn't when I set up his account and ordered it. We have the emails to prove it (not his fault if their software doesn't talk properly to their warehouse software). Apparently she is going to ring me as it was on my CC (for the QFF points of course), but I am yet to receive the call.

Sure enough, going into my account now and tying to order a case of 6, it allows me to order (it doesn't say out of stock on the main page show all the Penfolds Icon series), but when one clicks through to the "Shopping Cart" page it states:

Unfortunately Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz 2010 was removed from your cart as it is out of stock. You previously had 1 in your cart.

So the conundrum - how far do I push (assuming I get a phone call). If I don't get a call, I'll phone up and see if anybody will talk to me.

Interestingly, my second attempt now gives a pop up box on the front page saying:

Sorry, there is insufficient stock for your cart

so it looks like they have fixed the issue in the short term - but it still doesn't show "Out of Stock" instead of the "Add to Cart" icon.

I opened a bottle of St. Henri 2010 last week. Quite delicious and complex without being a big bold in your face style typical of SA reds. A very young (as expected) wine with lots of tannins. Should be a good one to keep for a while.

Does anyone know if the St Henri 2010 can be found anywhere? Looked at many places without any luck.

I went to Magill Estate restaurant over the weekend and tried it - as well as the '09 Grange and '81 Bin 389!
Had no idea the 2010 St Henri was rated 100 points..
The sommelier said that the cellar door sold out in 3 days...

Update re Noosa food and wine.. Excellent day on the beach with Neil Perry. Great food and lots and lots of great wine. Met up with some old class mates that I haven't seen for 25+ years. Same table and lots of stories. Good looking waves and so much sunshine.

I suspect TWE are just drip feeding this to the public. Suspect over time there will be plenty. DMs are getting more...call up and ask for some.

Thanks, might pop in tomorrow after work - however the website does not show any availability for any of the stores in my area. I don't know how accurate that is though.

I'm not a Costco member, nor is there one near me but thanks for mentioning

Hi QF WP, Sorry to hear you and your Dad missed out on the 389.

After I deliberated for too long and missed out on the St Henri I decided to console myself with the 2010 Bin 389, which also has some very good reviews. I ordered some last Monday night (12th May) and it arrived on Saturday. Sounds like I was very lucky to get some then. ;)

Here is my latest info on availability (not my own research)

Apparently Sixty Darling Street have it for $78 and WLA, Winesellers Direct, Nicks and Our Cellars have it for $80.

Thanks.
Boozle was showing some hits on my local DMs yesterday so I went after work and they had nine at the back (the guy had to do a computer search for it).
I then realised that I had maxed my cc and the payment wasn't going to go through until today.
Taking a chance, I got a case of 6 today at $72.90ea. That is both the single bottle and half dozen price.
The girl told me the special is on until the end of the month (approx, forgot which date but it was in May 2014).
Weird because the DMs site was showing no availability for all stores in my area.

After my recommendation, a friend bought some from cellarit.com.au today - just checked and there is still stock at $95/bottle.

Tempted to find another DMs and get another six at that price...

He picked up a case of 6 of the 389 2010's from his local Dan Murphys (where he is a regular and they know him), but paid way over the odds ($73 per bottle IIRC - same price I paid for the St Henri through EpiQure). Still, he's happy he has 3 of each now. Cellaring time...

Thanks.

Just make sure you get the 2010 as reputedly Dans have stock of the 2009 as well!
