Qatar Airways status match to Virgin Australia

The QR Platinum card is a metal card and can get you into QF Business Class domestic, and QF First Intl lounges.
In fact - QR Platinum members can access the *REAL* first-class lounge in Doha. Even QF Plat One and Chairmans Lounge members can't get into that lounge!

So, hypothetically, I'm flying QF Domestic Economy and I'm QF Bronze. If my VA plat is status matched to QR, I can use the QF business lounges?

Can’t remember if they ask for the card or scan the boarding pass at the QC or Business Lounge, would like to flash the QR Platinum card but use my QF account for points (QF Silver) would this be a problem?

I am also interested in that - as the earn rates for QR FF flying Qantas are not that great

would you need to book a QR ticket?
Are we saying here that if you book a QF ticket / boarding pass you can't use the QR One World pass for entry to lounge?
Being a Virgin member, I'm not fussed about getting QF points. prefer the lounge access.

Put your QR number on the booking.

As you walk out of the lounge, switch the number to QFF.

But honestly, QFF points for domestic travel as so little. Why bother?

I doubt that I’ll have the opportunity to fly internationally with Qatar within the next year due to border controls. However, I applied for it just in case. Can’t hurt.

This is a great offer and will cushion the blow for some of us moving across to QF from VA.

Thanks Qatar!

I'd be thanking them when it's locked in. I don't believe anybody has been confirmed yet. Hopefully it will all go smoothly but have a gut feel it will be a few hurdles.

Received an email saying that request had been resolved and to log in and check service centre
A bit downhearted to see status as Burgundy on login
Service centre said had received info and on approval would be upgraded to Platinum with a welcome email. If declined would let me know
So still waiting but does look like a straight

Is there any email sent by QR to acknowledge receipt of the status match request?
I have received nothing from them other than one welcoming me to Privilege Club.

I applied for the match Monday but didn't receive an acknowledgement either.

I've just applied both by the email 'status' address and contact us in the privilege club. I've just sent them a copy of our cards and asked if they want further info. Could find nothing about status match on Qatar website. Ive never had a Virgin Velocity email monthly statement.

I’d love to be a fly on the wall at Qantas HQ when they discuss this!

What in it for them?

They get to deliver benefits (and costs) in their premium lounges to the Virgin refugees gifted their top tier status while their One World “partner” gets the international business sectors. Qantas pick up some domestic flights, maybe - which they probably would have got anyway as Virgin restructures after the buyout
