Qatar denied extra capacity into Australia

I would wait and see what happens at the 3Nov 2023 AGM

Possibly, but that AGM will carry a lot of attention and possibly a pitchfork or two??

Sure but pichforks need a microphone and there are ways of controlling that. And preference might be given to questions sent in by form " by our ordinary shareholders, not able to be here today".

The only thing that would really get traction is a first strike on the remuneration report and I haven’t seen any of the proxy advisors go that far.

Qatar lobbyist spotted in Qantas Chairman’s Lounge

AFR on- line

On Instagram last week, Qatar Airways’ energetic lobbyist Eamonn Fitzpatrick took a break from posting selfies with Labor politicians to instead feature an image of some highly distinctive hexagonal flooring.

“Retro carpet vibes” he wrote, below a picture of what Canberra insiders immediately recognised as a view of Sydney’s Qantas Chairman’s Lounge, the membership list of which marks the pinnacle of Qantas’ own lobbying efforts.

Fitzpatrick was deep behind enemy lines. And it didn’t pass unnoticed.

Well I have come up with a good conspiracy theory. QR is the largest share holder in IAG and have codeshares with all IAG controlled airlines apart from Aer Lingus. They have not too long ago announced a partnership with Aer Lingus who don't list QR as a codeshare partner. QR also does not list Aer Lingus as a code share partner.
QR is thus using it's financial clout to have IAG replace the current CEO of Aer Lingus. They do change CEOs frequently in recent years.
So you can now guess where my conspiracy theory leads. They will try to have AJ appointed as CEO of Aer Lingus returning him to his career beginning.
The sting in the tail, all conspiracy theories need one ,is that AJ will have to report directly to Akbar-el-Baker in his new role with the Qatari Government.

I’d imagine the new boss would need to be a Qatari nationalist. Then there is the small issue of 7 years prison or the death penalty for homosexuality in Qatar
That doesn’t apply for royalty or senior people.

Interesting that Qatar is a key negotiator in the current Middle East crisis and negotiating for release of hostages.

Qatar houses the Hamas elite, so they wouldn't even need to leave Doha to meet them.

Ah, having said that perhaps there are diplomatic reasons why the Govt rejected more flights to parts of Australia other than some MP being in the CL.

That type of reasoning has been suggested before. If it was the or a contributing reason, then the question then arises as to why the Australian government would allow any QR flights into Australia. Its either a moral position or its not.
