QF A380 back in service from January 11

I just flew QF11 on the old A380
So it’s definitely showing it’s age, a lot of wear and tear. Seats barely moved and those god awful old screens. Also due to COVID you have to make your own bed now as well. Otherwise they are fairly lax on the mask rule in business during the flight.

They also literally ran out of water 3 hours out so they left bottled water to wash your hands in the bathrooms

VH-OQK has been sitting outside at the QF LAX maintenance base since early December.

I'm told that there's about to be a ferry of a 380 from LA to AUH. I don't know which one.
VH-OQK? I think that is the only one sitting at LA at this time, it went there a few weeks ago from Victorville. The rest are still at VCV, in Australia (OQD & OQB) or already in AUH (OQC).

To clarify - you were flying J?
If so, making the "bed" is something you do in J - which is put the thin topper on the seat.

F is when they make the bed for you, there's a few more components however.

I had my bed made by the FA on my last QFi "J" flight (09/19). About the only thing he could be bothered to do for us the whole journey.

Nice scenic flight by the looks
Not as interesting as the great circle route would have been though.

From their current position (as at 09:30 Sydney) they’re going to track across the Atlantic to France, then down to Egypt.

Thanks for that. Looked like they were going to head over Greenland and Scandinavia at first

Noted VH-OQK visited a TBIT gate rather than departing directly from the engineering base.
Would that normally be needed for a flight like this ?
