Im in Orlando now, heading out to LAX in about 8 hrs where i am told i have a seet on the way home.

Dont like my upgrade chances at the moment :(

Looking at the flight loads for the next few days it looks like all classes/buckets are 0 0 0

At least i am getting home Tuesday morning as planned..

Cheers
Fuzzy

Flights from lax are chockers, those already booked in for coming days will be kept on their flights so not delaying new pax, but means those originally delayed will be delayed further and further until the 380s are back up and flying. Not that this would surprise anyone.

I genuinely feel for both the delayed pax and QF here. I understand their logic though. And it's probably making the best of a very bad situation.

I'm sure that there will be a lot of MCO vouchers issued by QF in the coming days.

FWIW it just reminds me that for all our whingeing (on other threads), it's times like these that status is invaluable.

I'm not inconvenienced by the A380 outages, rather QF are being inconvenienced on capacity.

Have just had two calls in ten minutes from Lucy in Reservations Sydney, trying to move me from PER-xSYD-NRT (all QF Metal) to PER-xHKG-NRT, with HKG-NRT on CX metal.

Call kicked off with the usual this is why, which I was able to say she could skip as I knew exactly what was happening. Also got talking briefly, and they've had to bring some staff into Reservation on 12hr shifts just to move people around to keep everyone happy. Lucy was still smiling, but you could hear the stress and almost exhaustion in her poor voice.

I was considering it, but they first wouldn't offer original routing credit on the flight which was a no-go considering the goal I'm aiming for.

They called back five minutes later, stated they would offer original routing credit, but then she twigged I was a QP member and would be sans-lounge access in HKG. She figured that out just as I started saying it.

Suggested that if they can come up with a way to grant me lounge access in HKG and make sure original routing credit is applied, it's a done deal and I'll take the re-routing.

We'll wait and see if they call back, but I'm not hopeful. skkng suggested via twitter I should have asked for J, but I'm not that much of a scammer.

Hope it works out for you. I think your requests are completely reasonable.

I'm currently at JFK, just checked in for QF3112 connecting on to QF12. At the moment my boarding pass for QF12 is showing the same seats as if it was still the A380. I'm not quite sure what will happen at LAX. The AA check-in staff didn't seem to be aware of any changes.

Was on QF16 tonight LAX-BNE now flying LAX-SYD-BNE

Currently in Y 48D with 48E showing full.

46C showing available for a fee.

Will check when I get to LAX and whether 46B or 46C still available.

I guess I shouldn't have answered the phone.

I was hoping for an upgrade but chances of that are almost 0.

What was I thinking; this is going from bad to worse.

Now stuck in LAX for a day.

The AA1254 flight was over 2 hours late so I didn't get into LAX until after 10:00pm, went to the AA lounge in T4 to check in; they said can't help, they said I need to go over to TBIT where the check in said it was full.

Maybe I should have connected the bookings and then I would have shown up in the Qantas system as having been checked in, but I didn't. :(

Australian 380 crew only work on the 380. LHR base work both.

Looks like that may change in the near future with reports coming through yesterday of dual rating with 747 for both QAL and QCCA cabin crew in the works, makes sense in light of recent events.

I just got in today on QF12. We were on a 747 and it was full to the brim. There were a couple of very disgruntled passengers in the One World lounge who didn't realize that we were now on a two class aircraft.

Once we arrived in Sydney and waited at the baggage carousel for 25 minutes Qantas staff announced that they had left a significant number of bags back in LAX. There must have been at least 120 of us who had one or more missing bags. I received two and have another two yet to come. It's not as big a deal to me as it is to those who are on holiday here in Australia but I'm disappointed that I can't play with my recent purchases!

so i just got a text, QF11 has been delayed on thursday to 19:10

4.5hours delay

means i will certainly miss my connection

edit: just talked to qff and jumped over to QF107
now have a 6hr wait at LAX

Am flying Syd-HK on Friday. Now 747 substituted with A330. No Y+ which I had booked.
Now if Y.

No mention of refund etc, so rang and girl had no idea. Said she would go away and ask.
15 mins later the answer was yes but they had not worked it out yet !!!!!!!

what a way to run an airline. Surely it would have been nice to have had a paragraph in the original email stating the amount. It is NOT ROCKET SCIENCE.

Are you hell bent of flying Y+? Surely you could ask about being re-routed via MEL on QF29?
It does seem poor that a refund was not mentioned considering that they would have been through this when Y+ was being rolled out.

There is a set rate for refunding in these circumstances:

If in W class you should be rebooked into B class and receive $900, if R or T classes, then $550. Be sure to ask for original routing credit so you get the orginally booked SC's/QFF points.

There are quite a few people in your situation. I wouldn't be concerned about whether you will receive a refund. But I can understand why you would be cranky about the seat change.

Re: A380 Flight this coming Friday

Well I woke this morning to a equipment change to some bomby old 4 class 744 v1.

Seats went from being OK, to being down in the cold dark depths of Y.

Spoke to QF and moved to a 2 seater down the back, as it was the only better rated seats I could find, and they said "A380's are still undergoing tests, but they have heard that all the engines are being replaced"

Might explain why they are being so quiet atm?

QF127 (SYD-HKG) had equipment change today, so my boss (WP status) was pushed back from Y+ to Y. Wasn't told until he looked at boarding pass and saw it was Y. Asked about it and basically told he should be happy he still has a plane to fly on. No mention of compensation, so forwarded him the compensation links above - Thanks Serfty!

I have an Award flight on QF127 next Thursday in F. Hmm, not looking promising at this stage

For the safety of the A380 fleet and the number of people they have to move & shift about, I hope they get this sorted out ASAP!

QF have two 747s at AVV at the moment, I am betting they are rushing as much as possible to get them back into service to help out!

Sorry if I missed a post on this anywhere but has anyone been able to confirm or deny that QF are replacing the engines on the A380's?

How far is this likely to set them back and how long is it likely to take to clear the backlog? I am due to fly an A380 on Boxing Day and I am starting to be concerned.
