I see Qantas still hasn't updated the calculator to show the points and status credit earning for this flight.
Well I'll need to know what it'll earn before I'll even consider booking this flight, I think. I need to plan my way to get the SC count to attain/retain status.I see Qantas still hasn't updated the calculator to show the points and status credit earning for this flight.

I'm seriously considering flying via SYD for travel to LHR after the service downgrade kicks in.
If you are travelling MEL-x-LHR on the same flight number then the intermediate stop does not affect the earn.Well how does the earn compare to the old route MEL-DXB-LHR ?

Qantas appear to be discriminating against Western Australians.
A search for April 2018 award flights showed no seats on direct flights PER-LHR but if I changed the search to SYD or MEL, there is an option to LHR via Perth! The Melbourne option was not on QF9 MEL-PER but on a much earlier domestic flight. So why don't Perth passengers get access to the same seats?
...Taking the QF9 787 flight from MEL would get you more points, but less SC then taking a domestic flight MEL-PER and connecting to QF9.
Poor show that only one SC is to be credited.
You may mean 'fewer SC' not 'less!'

Guess I shall have to continue to book award flights to Europe with CX and put up with having to choose my champagne in the Wing F lounge in HKG before a soak in a tub in a cabana suite while they press my shirt.
Life is tough.
