I think we might each buy a ticket to go MEL-PER-LHR when Qantas do a double status credit offer.
Just because we can go to MEL to start a trip and it wont cost much more than going PER-LHR. We will be doing a couple of pay for flights for WP or P1 using double status credits.
It's an interesting topic. You accept that attacks will happen rarely but attacks on civilians throughout Europe seem like they're almost a daily occurrence at the moment.'The Australian' on Wednesday 21 June (online) had an article about decreased interest in and bookings to London following numerous UK (largely Islamic) terrorism attacks.
Australian Federation of Travel Agents admitted fewer were booking to the UK.
How long this lasts is anyone's guess, but I was amused to read that QF claimed there had not been a drop, as did Webjet.
Pull the other one, QF and Webjet - although for confirmation we will need to wait a few months.
'The Age' and 'SMH' today had an unrelated article by a former Fairfax journalist who resides in London but says we should now avoid visiting it.
While many QF bookings will be from businessmen and women, it needs some leisure travellers to book, as do all airlines, so this sort of media publicity reminding us of recent negative events is not the sort of coverage an airline marketing a destination (and in QF's case new route) would like.
The big difference between the US's gun culture (which I also dislike), though, is that civilians aren't being killed in random attacks as regularly as the ISIS-inspired attacks are happening in Europe at the moment. Most shootings in the US are targeted. And that's the scary thing about the UK as there's genuinely nothing you can do to avoid being a target. We are not going to stop travelling to the UK or the US.
I don't like the gun culture in the US but we are not affected by it where we travel.
Lightweight! Try a three day round trip.I was wondering if we could do a 10 day round trip to London on this service.
You are ignoring casa regulations for etops unless something has changed since you made the same posts about this last year.

It's all good and well for academics (who've fried their brains on pot in their earlier years) and politicians (with their armed bodyguards) to tell us to carry on as per usual, but I can't but help think that for the first time I'm seriously considering spending more time in my hotel next time I visit London (in late Sept). It's sad, but it's the reality now.
I felt safer visiting Israel/Jordan back in 2014 than I do visiting the UK.

Don't worry, I am only really going for dinner.JT my eldest son did a 5 day London run with a side trip to Portugal.
We don't want to get too run down even if we go in business class.
3 day trips to London are for younger folks than us.
