What! I just made a booking this morning, using flight credits. Gaaaah!

If I cancel and rebook will that work?

thanks for the post, any suggestions re best flights to take per $ value domestically for the Status run , as there is no international travel?
Depends where you are based and whether you'd like to have a bit of a holiday or just go there and back on one day, how many SC you need etc. If you need a lot flying indirect can help earn more SC per $. So long as the two legs are on different flight numbers you will earn SC for each leg which is typically more SC than flying direct.

My favourite domestic indirect routes from MEL are MEL-SYD-OOL and MEL-BNE-CNS.

yep forgot to mention , last year Satus Run was hobart-melb-syd-bali return , gave me 350 for me to reach gold , ( which was cancelled) now with no international flights , what would be the best routes . im based in Sydney and a Bronze newbie lol

If you fancy a trip to Cairns you could do SYD-BNE-CNS. I think there is at least one or two other places in Queensland you could fly to via BNE. Travelling to Tasmania via MEL is something else you could look into.

I think travel to the Northern Territory and Western Australia would probably be more expensive but you could certainly look into places like those as well.

Probably harder to do this from SYD, but if you can find a route that requires you fly indirect via somewhere that is kind of in the right direction but doesn't go as straight as going direct non-stop that could give some of the best value.

Damn it - just made two bookings yesterday

Only two? Just finalised arranging a busy month of travel with 12 flight sectors booked yesterday :(

Cancel and rebook?

Fly Flexible policy should help with that.

Don't take a flight credit as you keep an existing booking reference and hence won't earn DSC. Cancelling outright may work but its doubtful that you could get money back in time to take advantage of this.

No sure how the fly flexible will help as ...

Doesn't that just allow changing of dates for the original route? How would that help?

... it only seems to cover date changes - Fly Flexible | Qantas

thanks for your recommendations , i was due to start Hobart last year . no problem in starting elsewhere, i guess i will have to total up the sectors for my to reach 350 with minimum $$ , then find the planes with lie flat beds on these routes

At little OT but it will help to work out if I need to book any flights, apart from the status boost that we will get are the monthly status support payments in play for this year and will the extra SCs earned in this promotion count towards the rollover total.
