Depends where you are based and whether you'd like to have a bit of a holiday or just go there and back on one day, how many SC you need etc. If you need a lot flying indirect can help earn more SC per $. So long as the two legs are on different flight numbers you will earn SC for each leg which is typically more SC than flying direct.thanks for the post, any suggestions re best flights to take per $ value domestically for the Status run , as there is no international travel?
Great Question!.. im also wanting to knowDoes this work with the amex $450 credits ?
From past promos one would think it should. Just make sure it's a brand new booking reference.Does this work with the amex $450 credits ?
With past promos it has. Best to double check the T&C's to be certain.Does this work with the amex $450 credits ?

My favourite domestic indirect routes from MEL are MEL-SYD-OOL and MEL-BNE-CNS.
Damn it - just made two bookings yesterday
Cancel and rebook?
Fly Flexible policy should help with that.
Don't take a flight credit as you keep an existing booking reference and hence won't earn DSC. Cancelling outright may work but its doubtful that you could get money back in time to take advantage of this.
Doesn't that just allow changing of dates for the original route? How would that help?
Is this (eligibility for SC) based on the time of trip or time of booking? e.g. If I book while not a PC member but by the time the trip is taken I become PC member. Will that work? They should. I got a +50% SC promo on a classic flight reward just before covid lockdowns.

thanks for your recommendations , i was due to start Hobart last year . no problem in starting elsewhere, i guess i will have to total up the sectors for my to reach 350 with minimum $$ , then find the planes with lie flat beds on these routesIf you fancy a trip to Cairns you could do SYD-BNE-CNS. I think there is at least one or two other places in Queensland you could fly to via BNE. Travelling to Tasmania via MEL is something else you could look into.
I think travel to the Northern Territory and Western Australia would probably be more expensive but you could certainly look into places like those as well.
Probably harder to do this from SYD, but if you can find a route that requires you fly indirect via somewhere that is kind of in the right direction but doesn't go as straight as going direct non-stop that could give some of the best value.
