So I booked a flight to Norfolk Island today..... then I saw Double SC and registered. Then remembered the NLK flights depart international.... Who knows if I'll get the extra 50SC. Probably not that important, my status will get extended to July 2022 and any serious chance at retaining gold after that will require international flights to resume.

thanks for your recommendations , i was due to start Hobart last year . no problem in starting elsewhere, i guess i will have to total up the sectors for my to reach 350 with minimum $$ , then find the planes with lie flat beds on these routes
You can certainly start from HBA if you wish. Some will do a positioning flight perhaps as a Classic Award to get access to the better status runs for their needs.

Is this (eligibility for SC) based on the time of trip or time of booking? e.g. If I book while not a PC member but by the time the trip is taken I become PC member. Will that work?

Unfortunately I don't know. The flight coincidentally met the booking and travel windows of a 50% SC promo before Points Club had even been announced.

When Points Club was later announced, I had already qualified for it and was retrospectively credited the SC + bonus SC.

My gut feel is that your Points Club status on day of travel is the most important factor.

Don't take a flight credit as you keep an existing booking reference and hence won't earn DSC. Cancelling outright may work but its doubtful that you could get money back in time to take advantage of this.
I know that is usually the case, but the terms and conditions for this offer quoted by OP in post #3 say:

"Are Qantas Flight Credits eligible for this offer?
Once you’ve registered for this promotion, Flight Credits redeemed for an eligible flight booking during the promotion period will earn bonus Status Credits. You can redeem your Flight Credit through Manage booking, by entering the credit reference number and your last name."

So that looks to me like you would be able to use the flight credits for DSC on this occasion.

I would not be at all surprised if you needed to manually email/call QF to followup your case if you tried to do it that way.

I would still recommend a brand new booking with a new booking reference.

Yes I don't understand your reference either @RichardMEL? Could you enlighten us?
I think he's trying to say that he'd be surprised if QF's IT systems enforced all the rules specified in the T&Cs but YMMV. Elaborating further would risk drawing unwanted attention to this.

Last year I was after the cheapest flex fare that any one could find and BCI-LRE came out in front. Now we do not have to worry about change fees what is the cheapest flight that others have found. The best I have found at the moment is MEL-LST at $109. There are other from/to locations that come in at around $119, has anyone found any cheaper options. I am looking to book the cheapest flight available and do not care about from-to.

HI any cheapest way to earn 100SC in DSC promo I need to earn 100SC to fast track gold- any suggestion for flights from Mel

So if I read this right - if I make a booking before March 30th, and change that booking to somewhere else at another date but still fly before 28/2/22 I'd still get the DSC ?
Or am I understanding that wrong?

It is why I am looking for the cheapest flight from to any location. I have already been advised that routing can be changed you just need to pay the fare difference.

A slightly tangential question. Pre- Covid I booked a few flights during the DSC period, to Tokyo, Sydney and Brisbane, that I ended up not taking and haven’t been anywhere since. Do those flight credits still get DSC when rebooked? Rest assured I will be hopping on the first plane to Tokyo whatever happens but it would be interesting to know.

Yes, you can use the Amex $450 credit. QF does not really care how it's paid for as long as they get the $$$

As for my earlier reference... those who have an interest in knowing will already understand. :)
