QF-EK broken promises

The QF F cabin has always been full or close to full when I've flown it, which leads me to believe it is a key part of QFF by giving members an award or upgrade to aspire to. Nothing wrong with that in and of itself, but I find EK F feels much more "special" whether on the 77W or A380. So replacement of QF F with EK F hardly feels like a broken promise or failure to me, and the ability to fly EK F out of ADL and PER feels like a significant gain.

On the other hand EK took the Donald Trump/World Dictator approach to interior decorating.
Too much bling, fake gold and walnut burr.
So true! I really think EY found the perfect balance of luxury in a less ostentatious style while not being as austere as QF decor.

I agree but the products are around 7 years apart.... a whole generation of seat upgrades. In 2008 when launched the QF F seat was pretty phenomenal.

QF ditching Chauffeur Drive was a real loss I feel. they could at least have kept it for F flights to the US.

which of course begs the question - what ARE Qantas planning to do to upgrade their F offering. I haven't heard anything. Etihad are on their second generation since 2008 - I flew their F suites in 2009, which had just just come in as an enclosed suite and now they have a whole new offering. EK and SQ were also circa 2008 and EK is bringing out a new F and SQ is a fair way down the track with theirs, but Qantas is running a pretty tired F cabin now.

It really wasn't. The QF F seat was made obsolete before launch by the SQ Suite which I believe launched in 2007.

EY only have new F on new deliveries in the last 2 years, they havent changed F on the 777 fleet at this point. But yes we are close to being due for an A380 refurb. Qantas A380 F is far more spacious than EY B777's or EK A380's as of now, less bling/showers etc, but much more space.

Each flight has either been an upgrade...

Can you please share your secrets to getting multiple EK upgrades :p Nobody else from ADL has had any AFAIK, whether WP or not, or travelling Y or J

bling doesn't matter (unless I am wearing it), but I really enjoyed the shower!

I must be the only person who has absolutely zero interest in having a shower on a plane  When necessary I shower in the lounge, pre or post flight.

nope you and Mr FM - he refused to have a shower and sees no point to it.....I was a bit ho hum initially, but like to experience everything and now I am a convert. Just feel so much fresher after a sleep......

It is possible that QF will announce a midlife A380 refurb after the 330s are done, maybe during the full year results.

I am sure you are not the only one with absolute zero interest. My interest is close to absolute zero. (its cold)

It's not just the shower. It's having a toilet and bathroom that feels like F, that's not a broom closet as on other airlines. And the QF F broom closet toilet is full of Emerald City interlopers from upstairs.:)

Agreed.
I love the showers, recently on EY SYD-AUH I had two. One after dinner before changing into PJs, one in the morning after breakfast.
But the bathrooms in F on their other aircraft are still spacious enough to get changed in, even without a shower.

Does he exhibit the same behaviour at home? :)

Anna. They clearly KWIA. :D. Every flight into and out of Adelaide has been upgraded. From Y to J and J to F. The shower was excellent and surprising just how refreshing it is. That was on a NZ flight but in April I'll try again on a Mel-Sin flight.

I really have no interest in the QF-EK deal.Just doesn't suit me.
But I think QF have delivered on their promises.Quotes from their submission to the tribunal-

The additional capacity combined with the above will deliver significant consumer benefits, including an enhanced ability to compete against the main carriers Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways on the respective routes.

The currently fixed single daily Emirates services into Auckland and Christchurch will be integrated into the Qantas network in a way that will enhance the value of that capacity.

And from the QF news room-

Today’s inaugural Qantas flights via Dubai also see the introduction of a suite of new product enhancements in First and Business Class (see Press Pack).
Qantas and Emirates Begin Historic Partnership - Qantas News Room

The ACCC agreed-

“The ACCC considers that the alliance is likely to result in public benefits through enhanced products and service offerings by the airlines, and improved operating efficiency,”
ACCC Chairman Rod Sims said.

So QF promised to enhance products and services and I can see from all the complaints above they have delivered in spades.:p:p:lol:
