QF-EK broken promises

Seriously if these "broken promises" are an issue take your business elsewhere. Doesn't need regulator intervention.

An interesting "take" you have on Corporate Accountability.

If a company is granted rights by a regulator on the basis of service standards then the sole penalty for not meeting those standards should be lack of custom rather than regulator imposed sanctions.

Would this stretch to insider trading etc??

I'm sorry, in what universe is a bacon sanie not allowed on board. The only restriction is that they will not prove dishes that include pork, etc. That means steal and bacon pie, for example. No reason a stand allow pork or bacon dish can't be served.

Medhead proof read first although the app can be difficult to use

There are fantastic ( even better) first class lounges in Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok, with even better champagne. I prefer to transit through these not DXB. Sheik you. Without having to worry about bacon or no bacon 4 breakfast. Or a second class citizen for that matter.

Everyone has a preference. I just called it as I saw it.

I love the QF/EK alliance, it's wonderful. I even like flying oneworld partner QR, voted worlds best business class.... through Doha, where they have world class beautiful lounges that are free of sand.

I like BKK/SIN/HKG too, I use those where it suits me as well.

Fantastic first lounge in in SIN and BKK for those flying with Qantas and non- middle east partners? Where is this mythical beast?

Indeed, sound advice. Presumably you could understand what was meant. I'm still trying to understand the below.

I happen to like pork having hoofs it's hard to come to grips. Point taken maybe not a broken promise but certainly another food choice causing controversy. Because location of the stop.

Which beast are you referring to?

Loads of benefits from the tie-up too - at least for me personally:

1. Fly the A380 BNE to LHR (and many other destinations) while earning QF SCs all the way - no need to backtrack to MEL or SYD

But earning SC on EK flights means forking out more (usually) for a QF coded flight.

We all have this thing called choice. QF made the decision to form an alliance with EK because it was meant to be helpful to their business. I have no interest in transiting through DXB. I have yet to fly QF or EK to Europe since the tie-up. It's my choice and there is plenty out there.

Last I heard insider trading is against the law.

Im certainly no expert on this but, as far as I am aware the only condition imposed by the ACCC on the QF EK agreement is to maintain trans Tasman capacity. I presume doing this has resulted in benefit to users of that route and members of this forum. The submissions from QF and EK identified things like coordination, harmonisation and standard. I suspect many of the points raised would be fruit of those branches.

So I'd be inclined to suggest any remaining accountability would rest with the consumer.

BTW does capitalising words make them seem more official?

I don't love the QF/EK alliance I was happy when all iQF metal via Singapore. I have been thru all those alliances and airports and was very underwhelmed. Being Pig I was not treated well, or made to feel special. I was not invited to sip Champagne.

With the exception of trans-Tasman flights I haven't found this to be true at all for the Australia-Asia and Australia-Europe flights.

The Dubai powers were not manageing to build and respecting rights? Sorry Junbugging what point are you making?
Amazing how Singapore managed to do all that building while completely respecting the rights of foreign labourers and not making anyone feel like a second-class citizen.

Rome-Dubai was $1000 more with the QF code for the date I flew.

A cooked breakfast needs bacon ....

........Pork won't originate from Dubai me thinks so in fact its keeping the Australian industry in a job. As some of you may know Pork is dearer in Europe being a premium meat.

Its not qantas' fault your friends are anti-arab...

I have no dog in this fight but it's unfair to label people who can't/won't transit DXB as "anti-arab". I have friends who are in the same boat and they have many friends of Arab descent but Middle Eastern countries aren't known to be particularly friendly to homosexual couples so they choose not to put themselves in places where things could turn bad for them easily.

I wouldn't characterise as broken promises, but understand some frustrations with elements of the alliance. But overall a positive in my opinion. Retained alliance with One World and opened up a new partner.

Positives for me include access to EK lounges (superior to many QF lounges or alternatives except the F lounges), my first F flights via an upgrade on EK, seeing new places I'd never have gone to otherwise (notably Dubai), direct access to many more European destinations, and superior trans-tasman options (though I still tend to fly Jetconnect for timing reasons).

Not a fan of the length of the DXB-SYD/MEL flights - but there are alternatives. My biggest gripes are loss of MASAs (sorry to mention) and diminishing value and benefits of OW alliance - but these aren't direct results of the QF-EK alliance I'd say.

As an Adelaidian we have no choice if we want to fly International direct out of Adelaide. So it is all Emirates. When I look at negative reviews I always check off what is important for me. Things like no bacon just dont worry me. Plenty of time for that on the ground. We have now taken many Emirates flights, and we have been much better looked after with regards to upgrades than we ever were with Qantas.

Unless they're basically screwing in the public terminal transiting DXB won't affect a couple of any sort.

Hope they avoid singapore too... sex between men is illegal there
