QF Platinum Denied Lounge on Arrival with Qantas Sydney Airport

Yes, but it sounded like they showed a digital BP and perhaps on that occasion the attendant mistakenly thought they were a departure BP and weren’t asked to log in using a contact tracing QR code.
They definitely knew we were an “on arrival” as the lounge lady said “ oh you have just arrived from BNE”

Some friends flew Jetstar

Can pax flying in on JQ access QF lounge on arrival ? assuming the pax hold QF Platinum.

I tried doing this once in MEL, was let in, but also told that I'd need to fly QF metal to access QF lounge on arrival as QF Platinum

Arrivals: Platinum and Platinum One Qantas Frequent Flyer members can access a Qantas Domestic Business or Qantas Club lounges upon arrival, if you have travelled that day on any flight with a Qantas (QF), Jetstar Airline (JQ, 3K or GK), Emirates (EK), China Eastern (MU) or a oneworld member airline marketed and operated flight number on your ticket.

I was asked to check in to the ServiceNSW app when accessing SYD J on 20 Mar.

Same here yesterday (21 Mar) - seems to contradict previous advice which was that scanning of BPs was done to effect any required Contact Tracing. The fact that similar was NOT required that morning ex-MEL suggests this is an additional NSW Govt requirement over QF's own obligations.

BD

For NSW it became mandatory for hospitality venues to use the Service NSW app exclusively for QR code check-ins from 1st Jan.

To clarify I only signed in on the ServiceNSW app.

I was not asked at all to scan my BP

Yes, both of my friends who did that trip to SYD currently hold Platinum status (one of them holding Platinum would have been enough).

I miss the arrivals access. I dropped back to Gold status. As good as arrivals access is, it's not enough on its own to entice me to level back up to Platinum, more like the icing on the cake. The international benefits of Platinum I value a lot more and with international borders closed I'm going to be waiting a while before even considering levelling back up.

Experienced attempted denial of arrivals access at ASP lounge this evening by a ‘serial offender’ lounge dragon. Stated Rationale : “no contact tracing ability” 😊. This time I politely suggested I could use the QF QR chkin that was displayed prominently on the entry desk....no further issue .

I was allowed arrival access at PER last Friday, has to download SafeWA to check in because they couldn’t contact trace me otherwise (departing pax can scan their BP). No dramas though.

I do love when a common sense response (like yours) completely ruins someone's power trip!

You won’t get Jennifer to buckle that easily.

What's going on with entry on arrival? It's been quite some time since Australia was in the midst of the pandemic. I became Platinum last year and I've never been able to use the lounge on arrival, which was something that I was really looking forward to. Does anyone know?

Entry on arrival has been back for some months now. As members have mentioned previously, they usually need to scan the QR code as well for contact tracing purposes. Which lounges have denied you entry since your last post on March 1st? Did you then ring QF to let them know?

I know this is OT but I can't let this statement slide.

In case you hadn't noticed - the pandemic is NOT over. Ask anyone in Victoria for example, or perhaps the Sunshine Coast area given recent travels by certain individuals not to mention the still closed borders.

Please don't be complacent about this issue or think it's over. Thank you.

Victoria aside, if we can fill stadiums we can have normal lounges too.

It took it in the context of the thread, if we want to make random observations about covid that's not this one.
It was basically a repeat of the original post from March 1 anyway, and the OP never did reply to queries of which lounge. There might not have been any further denials of entry since then. Perhaps she is only asking if it is still occurring? (Although posts over the last three months or so would indicate lounge access on arrival is back to more or less normal.)

I did write that it was OT and highlighted the specific statement I took issue with.

I mean no personal offence to anyone, and I agree with the lounge issue (specially as they appeared to reinstate arrivals access some time back so it seems odd if someone was still having a problem with this) but my GENERAL point is that there seems still a lot of complacency in the country about the pandemic and that statement undersocred that for me. Yes sure, crowds at football, no restrictions in QLD or whatever, but all it takes is one leak in and hey presto. SA had their breach recently which then went into Vic (sigh).. WA in Apritl with the Perth lockdowns, border closures etc. Just because things seem normal in many respects for those who are not "in the midst of" being lockdown lepers doesn't mean the Pandemic is over.

I thought I was fairly clear on that. I guess not.

Whenever I write a post or a reply, I feel slightly worried that someone might jump down down my throat. I see a lot of that happening on here.

I’m well aware that this pandemic is ongoing, particularly in Victoria. What I had meant was that we are not in the same place that we were in a year ago with daily case numbers in each city, lounges closed etc. This doesn’t make me complacent...and it doesn’t mean I’m not navigating my way carefully. I completely understand why certain rules regarding lounges had to be implemented and I’m super happy to comply.

I just feel really nervous about posting questions on here sometimes. I didn’t mean to offend you.
