QF Platinum Denied Lounge on Arrival with Qantas Sydney Airport

It was basically a repeat of the original post from March 1 anyway, and the OP never did reply to queries of which lounge. There might not have been any further denials of entry since then. Perhaps she is only asking if it is still occurring? (Although posts over the last three months or so would indicate lounge access on arrival is back to more or less normal.)

Thanks very much for taking the time to understand where I was coming from. You’re correct - I had actually been denied entry a few months ago. From memory it was late February and it was in the business lounge at BNE. Prior to this I had been denied access on arrival in Adelaide too. I suppose I should have clarified that this happened several months ago, and I was checking (and assuming!) that this was still the case.

Nat I am really sorry my response upset you and made you wary about questions on here. That wasn't my intent at all though I see how it came across.

I had hoped the real message was more about to not me complacent regarding the pandemic - which was not specific to you but to EVERYONE (I see so many in our community who are so perhaps my response was mis-targeted a bit).

So I won't go further on this point (as it totally WAS OT to the thread) but I do apologise to you in particular. I was not offended so much as I suppose a little alarmed - because it does seem a common sentiment out there.

please keep posting :)

Richard - thanks very much for this message. I realise that it’s hard to gauge tone online, and sometimes things are misinterpreted. I also understand where you’re coming from in terms of the “The pandemic is over, let’s all go back to normal!” sentiment - it really bothers me too. Nobody should be complacent, and it’s that kind of attitude that contributes to further outbreaks...which then cause lockdowns, jeopardise businesses, claim lives...so on and so forth.
Anyhow - I really appreciate the clarification. Thanks again 😊

Does anyone these days??

It's useful if you want the advice of non-Australians who are probably more familiar flying airlines like AA etc.

AFF is great but we are a bit of an echo chamber with mostly Australian POVs here.

Sorry, we're getting OT now ...

Yes, my comment was aimed primarily at the Australian (and specifically QF) fora on FT. FT continues to be a good source of information for BA and those cousins in the LOTFATP. I'm currently onboard SQ306 and found the SQ forum there quite useful too.

Asking for a friend but didn’t want to start a new thread - is QF arrival lounge access back now?

I've used it - there's no reason for them not to allow it now as there's no capacity restrictions.

If you're being turned away it's most likely due to new staff not knowing the rules.

Lounge access eligibility is based on a customer's class of travel, Qantas Club membership, Qantas Frequent Flyer or oneworld membership tier, or partner airline benefit. Access to Qantas lounges is subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Qantas Club. Arrivals: Platinum and Platinum One Qantas Frequent Flyer members may access Qantas Domestic Business or Qantas Club lounges upon arrival, if you have travelled that day on any flight with a Qantas (QF), Jetstar (JQ, 3K or GK), Emirates (EK), China Eastern (MU) or a oneworld member airline marketed and operated flight number on your ticket. Departures: Eligible customers may access a Qantas Club lounge when their next onward flight on the same day is with a Qantas (QF) or Jetstar (JQ, 3K or GK) flight number on their ticket. Eligible customers who are travelling in Business or First, are Platinum, Platinum One Qantas Frequent Flyers or oneworld Emerald membership tiers, may access Qantas Domestic Business lounges. Partner and Associated lounge access is subject to various conditions of entry. Temporary measures have been put in place such as lounge capacity restrictions, physical distancing requirements, changes to our food and beverage service offerings, and lounge operating hours. Qantas International First, International Business, Partner and Associated lounge access remains closed until further notice. Please be advised that lounges are subject to capacity at the time of your visit and remember to check our airport service changes page for the most up-to-date information on lounge openings and updates.

Thanks all - looks like it’s back on!

Personally I never use it.

But good it’s on again for those who do.

I’ve had no problem using it multiple times in MEL, SYD and PER this year, even during very busy periods when capacity limits may be a consideration.
