Is it just me or has anyone else noticed award availability with EK between LHR -DXB and DXB and Australia is non existent for July next year.... Does this have anything to do with this announcement?

I'm certainly seeing more than zero availability.

In J and F? I have Bronze and Gold and can't see any between DXB-SYD/BNE/MEL was looking for dates around 23/24th as soon as they opened up and can't seem to see annoying :(

For DXB-MEL I can't see those dates but I can see 1 Aug and 2 Aug as a WP. You may need to be flexible to fly back a week later or take a risk and see if more seats open up closer to departure.

Well people have said that they reckon the QF Lounge in SIN will be quite inadequate for F passengers as it currently stands. Also in a FLounge WP passengers get looked after a lot better than they do in a combined J/F Lounge.

Put it this way Mr Hancock might have lots of new friends in the BA lounge

This may sound like a stupid question but do you think QANTAS club members will still get lounge access in Dubai if on QF code even though there are no actual QANTAS planes flying there?

I would have said it was a stupid question, but after re-reading the Qantas website - it actually doesn't mention Qantas club at all. It bizarrely says Qantas Frequent Flyers have access to Qantas and Emirates Lounges (it doesn't say which levels of FF). Wow - this is poorly written. If I were a bronze FF I'd be taking a screenshot and marching up to the Qantas Club demanding entry. In fact it says they have access to the First Lounges, again, doesn't say restricted to Plat - there's no caveats whatsoever.

But in the TA FAQs it has "Q: Will there still be lounge access for customers in Dubai?"- Ä. Yes. Eligible customers will continue to have access to Emirates lounges in Dubai".

So I'd say yes as long as you are on QF codeshare flights. Meanwhile, QF better update that page.

Key word there is 'eligible'.

Yep, and that word is completely missing on the Qantas public website. That's my point. I know it's a mistake, but it's terrible wording.

Just in case you can't be bothered to read it yourself:

[h=3]Access to more lounges across the world[/h]Qantas Frequent Flyers as well as travellers in premium cabins have access to Emirates and Qantas Lounges.
This includes access to Emirates' First Class and Business Class Lounges in Concourse A in Dubai Terminal 3 and Qantas' award-winning First Lounges in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as Qantas and Emirates Lounges in Australia, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
Ensure your Qantas Frequent Flyer number is in your booking to be able to access the lounge using your Qantas Frequent Flyer card. You can do this online through Manage Your Booking.

Try the Dubai page.

Oh FFS!

I know it's a mistake! I know there are other sources with the correct information!

However - the leading page on the QF website right now, which is being read by a lot of people, is misleading to the point of being incorrect.

Like anyone I hate longhaul flights in Y - but would people seriously prefer to route through SIN - when SIN-LHR is 13.5 hours anyway? For the sake of an extra 3-4 hours you can go direct - saving quite a few hours and the need for a stop. I could kind of understand if the stop was halfway (say DXB) but with SIN so much closer to PER I just don't understand why anyone would do that. It's kind of like flying SYD-LAX via AKL. Yeah a 17 hour flight sucks but so does a 13 hour flight - especially when you have to transfer to another 5.5 hour flight.

I've personally done this a number of times, where I flew PER-SIN-DXB-LHR (or other european destinations) in Y. Breaks up the flight time, singapore is an amazing airport.. and you get more SCs than PER-DXB direct.

In J I'd be totally happy to do PER-LHR.. but in Y not so much. I'm fairly large though, and that weighs heavily into my comfort. I can also sleep reasonably easily and function fine with broken up sleep. So both of those things probably factor into it.

And 'continue'.

That's kind of a red herring.

From memory flights continuing after Dubai on EK don't have a QF flight number.
